Foxmail (the beautiful, famous Chinese email-client) runs well from a USB stick, but it writes quite a bunch of entries in the registry (under "Aerofox"). These registry entries seem only to be related to the personalized interface settings of Foxmail (like adjustment of toolbar, colors of text in mails to be used, etc.)
Could Foxmail be made portable, so it writes those entries in an .ini file rather than in the registry? Or maybe it could just be stopped from writing in the registry, keeping it's default settings?
The reason why I prefer Foxmail over all other email clients is that I can SEND with it mails via different accounts, aliases and smtp servers.
If your on the go in an office environment, PDF files are a must.
I work for the Marine Corps, and use a lot of PDF files, but sadly our computer systems are contracted out to EDS. So no one has rights to install things, and on some machines Adobe isn't there. Sometimes that just puts us in between a rock and a hard place.
GhostView is a great opensource PDF viewer. I believe it would be well worth the time and effort to make it portable. Also why not include Ghost Script so people can also create PDF files. The cost of the Adobe program to create PDF files is outrageous and would be benificial to a lot of people.
I had a thought while trying to find the stip of paper that has my logon info; namely it would be really neato to be able to have my thumbdrive log me in when I put it into the computer. (It has more memory than I do
Generally, I would requests all open source application to be made into portable apps.
It would be great if there is portable Inkscape and GanttProject 2.0 (http://ganttproject.sourceforge.net/)
As a forrestry management student we work alot with different GIS systems, so it would be very handy to have one portable to work with on PC who don't have any GIS app running, so if anybody would now a good GIS app wich could be made (or is) portable.
Tnx

Do you think it is possible to have a portable GUI editor? I mean a program to design
Graphical User Interface, perhaps with multiple code generator and maybe cross platform... in short something like WxGlade http://wxglade.sourceforge.net/ (or better)?
I think it can be a nice companion for a code editor like PSPad
When i put my flash drive in.If im away from my pc and i dont want anybody to touch my pc and would like to lock my desktop ect with password. Is this possible thanks?
Armagetron is a really fun Open Source game. We play 16 player on the School's LAN,
but we have to re-install everytime, it would be great if we could save our playernames, hot keys etc on our thumbdrives.
I don't think there is much (if any) programming needs to be done cause it already allows you to install to a thumbdrive.
