Servant Salamander clone

Submitted by shrimps on November 1, 2007 - 1:16pm

Does anyone know of any freeware or open source file manager that comes anywhere close to Salamander that could be used as a replacement. Or can anyone existing users suggest any tweaks that could make it portable. I know distributing a portable version would be out of the question but any help would be much appreciated. Unfortunately it seems to rely rather heavily on the registry, it sometimes works, sometimes doesnt and seems to behave rather oddly all in all. Cheers

Update repository a'la Debian?

I think it would be great to have a kind of update repository or a software looking for available updates and applying them since this would help to keep ones software up to date and would make the installation and upgrade of software easier! And thank you for this great software, it helps a lot! especially openoffice.portable since openoffice is not that widespread on windows-computers yet! But also firefox ...

NetBeans or a similar App

Submitted by BluePlanet on October 26, 2007 - 2:06pm

NetBeans is a Java programming IDE that can be found at http://www.netbeans.org/ It is free but requires the Java JDK to work. Is there any way to package the JDK in with NetBeans? This app would be VERY large because the JDK is about 150-200mg and NetBeans is another 120-150mg. NetBeans doesn't (as far as I can tell) any reg entries except for the uninstall one.
