Do you know Shinux?
It is a Gnu/linux OS available on a usb flash key, downloadable for free, you can buy a key, too.
I didn't test it, but why not register there?

How about porting this?
Eclipse is already portable, and it handles a large variety of programming languages. Sure, you still need Java installed on the host system, but in most cases, it works fine.
Would be nice to have access to my WebDAV store while away and synchonice data, maybe even backup the changes on the usb stick...
BitKinex is a nice one but unfortunately not open source
does anyone know a open source WebDav client? (graphical, not command line...)
any portable download manager which function like net transport, flashget
Besides the portability of, well, portable apps, there is also privacy which I think everybody likes. There are utilities for antivirus etc., but I have yet to find one that cleans up after you work on a computer.
The ram footprint it has is extremely small and it's installation folder size is only up to 2MB. If it was ported to flash drives, I think it would make a great app.

Hi, John:
First, congratulate on the launch of PortableApps.com.
What you have done here will make the life of many people easier.
You should be proud of your work .
Ok, back to the topic, Firefox, Thunderbird, and OpenOffice.org are the major pillars of open source apps that benefit millions of people. Another application I bet most of us would like to see is Portable GIMP (or Portable GIMPShop). I used GIMP at home under Linux and would like to do so in my workplace without any installation so my system admin would not complain.
GIMP has been criticized for its arcane interface, and that's why GIMPShop was created to modify its interface to follow the menu layout of Photoshop, so that Photoshop users can use GIMPShop right away with ease.

Azureus implements the BitTorrent protocol using java language and comes bundled with many invaluable features for both beginners and advanced users
Cheers,

PS: Just in case, I'm thinking of using it on my PC
gvim will "work" from a removable media, but the problem is that any settings saved to your .vimrc or .gvimrc are not saved because of where gvim tries to access the rc files. A portable version of gvim would be incredibly handy.
Thanks for the great apps.
