Questions about runtime

Submitted by Pokémaniac on May 24, 2012 - 8:11am

I've noticed that the new LibreOffice launcher offers to install the runtime when necessary, but I have a couple questions about how this works.
1.) Does this require admin rights? (I'm assuming yes, but I just want to make sure since I don't have a machine I can safely test this on.)
2.) If yes, are there any plans to implement this so that the runtime can be handled without needing admin rights?

[Fixed] LibreOffice Portable 3.5.3.1 doesn't delete registry.dll upon exit

Submitted by Double Impact on May 23, 2012 - 9:23am

The new launcher unfortunately leaves folders ns*.tmp with registry.dll
when it completely closes.
This happens with the 3.5.3.1, which I've downloaded from
https://portableapps.com/apps/office/libreoffice_portable
just today.
Hope this helps to find the source of the problem:
1) This behavior is also present in LibreOfficePortable.exe launcher fix 2
2) This doesn't exist in the patched LibreOfficePortable.exe launcher

LibreOfficePortable 3.5.3 Running very very slow.

Submitted by wolfburg on May 16, 2012 - 7:53pm

I updated LibreOffice to the latest version 3.5.3. Aside from the notice that MS Visual C++ 2008 runtime is not installed (when it actually is) LibreOffice runs unacceptably slow for some reason. It takes 10-12 seconds for the drop down menus to actually drop down. Load and start can take 2-3 minutes. Loading a document can take as long. No problem before 3.5.3. LibreOffice in this version is unusable. Discarded/uninstalled. Trying to decide how I can get back to previous version or maybe back to OpenOffice. My system is XP SP3, 1.6mhz clock speed, 2gig ram.

[not solved] - libreoffice or jportable fault - unsure which

Submitted by dunedin-hughie on May 12, 2012 - 3:58am

I originally posted this at the following link.

https://portableapps.com/node/32172

After some experimentation moving previous installs in and out of the portable apps folder of both LibreOffice and jportable I am unable to find a solution.

I didn't know how to move the original post so I have linked to it within the body of this post,

Thanks,

Hugh

[Fixed] LibreOffice Portable 3.5.3 mistakenly offers to install VC runtime when already installed (patch included)

On some computers, LibreOffice Portable 3.5.3 will mistakenly detect that the MS Visual C++ 2008 runtime is not installed when it actually is. We're looking into the exact cause at the moment. If you are affected, you can help us by providing us information on what operating system it's running on and searching your C: drive for the file msvcr90.dll and letting us know where it is installed. We already have a partial fix working, but this could help provide us with a complete one encompassing any edge cases.

LibreOffice 3.5.2 download fails

Submitted by RienTimmer on April 23, 2012 - 5:24pm

When I start the platform it checks for updates and finds LibreOffice 3.5.2.
It starts downloading but fails to complete, 8 or 16 bytes short of the indicated size. The download starts again and fails again. Then the platform gives up with the following error message:

Download Error: Reget Error on file
Outdated download link removed

Am I the only one getting this error?

Rien.
