Error updating ClamWin 0.90 virus definitions

Submitted by flabbah on February 28, 2007 - 2:07am

When I select Tools -> Download Virus Database Update, I get the following

ClamAV update process started at Tue Feb 27 23:57:33 2007
main.cvd is up to date (version: 42, sigs: 83951, f-level: 10, builder: tkojm)
daily.inc is up to date (version: 2674, sigs: 11406, f-level: 13, builder: ccordes)
LibClamAV Error: Database Directory: ..\..\..\Data\db not locked

Completed

I wasn't sure how serious the LibClamAV error was. I did not get that when using 0.88.7.

ClamWin leaves files

I discovered today that ClamWin Portable leaves some files behind:
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\[username]\Lokale Einstellungen\Temp\nsr41.tmp\newadvsplash.dll
and
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\[username]\Lokale Einstellungen\Temp\ClamWin1.txt
The Clamwin1.txt says:

System Locale: ('de_CH', 'cp1252')
Default Encoding: cp1252
command line path:
Cleanup for process 000004a8

Any plans/hints/ideas???

ClamWin: Why so slow?

Submitted by Ordinary12 on January 29, 2007 - 3:29pm

Is there any way to speed this program up? I ran Norton along side of Clamwin and Norton moves so fast it makes Clamwin appear to be standing still. I'd also like to know why we haven't seen any more new programs added to this site lately. I remember seeing an emulator section on here once but I never saw anything in it.

ClamWin: Vista ready?

Submitted by Fluff on January 25, 2007 - 3:41pm

I can get ClamWin to work on Vista when it is on a thumbdrive. But when you try to get it to work on the PC its self thats the problem. I get an error when scanning. Saying that access is denied. Anyone know what can be done to fix this?

ClamWin won't start - filename CASE problem (solution)

Submitted by kethd on January 21, 2007 - 4:29pm

When portable software files are moved between computers, the case of the filenames may get changed, for example from "lib" to "LIB". For some portableapps packages, such as ClamWin and Nvu, this will keep the packages from working properly.

In the case of ClamWin, the symptom of this problem is that the portable-apps package splash screen appears promptly, and then the executable tries to launch but immediately vanishes; there is no visible activity after the splash screen.

A log file CLAMWIN.EXE.log is created in ClamWinPortable\App\CLAMWIN\BIN that reads:
