ClamWin: App/Data path change?

Submitted by nunya bisnas on July 27, 2006 - 4:41pm

I've installed the "suite" when John first released it a while back. As far as I can remember, there was always an "Apps" directory and a "Data" directory. When I extracted ClamWin, I noticed it created an "App" directory instead of an "Apps" directory. This really throws the launcher off its groove. Has the structure changed since the initial release of the suite? Will it now be "App/Data" and not "Apps/Data"? How can I change my install so all the apps can live together in happy harmony once more?

Thanks,

Tom

ClamWin: Maually Updateing Program Files

Submitted by Frank D. Hubeny on July 19, 2006 - 8:25am

Hello Group;

I am not a programer and usually just wait for the newer versions to appear on portableapps. So this is just a question.

Is it not possible to manually copy over the newer files or has John tweaked them in some way that a non programer can not do.

If it is a simple thing to do could someone let me know. Then perhaps people could update the files occasionaly and not be in a rush to have someone else do this.

*NOTE*

I am not trying to compete in any way with portableapps. I would do this only for myself if it is possible.

Portable ClamWin and Drive Letters

Submitted by desrtfx on July 7, 2006 - 6:43am

I just recently noticed that Portable ClamWin stores the Drive Letter of the first start in the profiles. This can be rather tricky when working with different drive letters. When the drive letter is removed, upon next downloads of the virus definitions (or even during updates) the drive letters will be stored again in the profile.
Could anybody find a solution (or patch) to permanently remove the storage of drive letters in the profile. The path starting from "\" would be sufficient (like on Portable Thunderbird, Firefox, etc.)

ClamWin: pClam + portable FF + Winpooch

Submitted by DigDuality on June 11, 2006 - 11:48pm

I love the FF extension ClamGlue, and i like how Winpooch is able to hook ClaimWin, but this all seems to work if Clam is installed on the hard-drive, not on the USB.

So my question is, how would i go about getting portable ClamWin to integrate with Winpooch (on the USB) and portable FF + the ClamGlue extension?

Is this even possible?

Using pClamWin AV to automatically scan downloads

Submitted by Jeremiah on June 8, 2006 - 10:37pm

With a little trial and error I've managed to set up pFirefox to use my install of pClamWin AV to automatically scan downloads. I am using the Download Statusbar 0.9.4.1 extention and used the example from the ClamWin website for enabling virus scans in Winzip. It required one change to keep pClamWin AV from choking on the spaces in the filename.

From the ClamWin website (http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/117/89/):
Scan Program: C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\ClamWin.exe
Parameters: --mode=scanner --path="%d" --close

In the Virus Scan tab of the extension options:
Anti-Virus program location: G:\Portable Apps\PortableClamWin\PortableClamWin.exe

ClamWin: U3 format problem

Submitted by uceboyx on May 24, 2006 - 2:33pm

I tried to put Clamwin into U3 format but I get a problem when I tried to download the new virus definitions:

Could not start process:
"C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\freshclam.exe" --stdout --datadir="C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/.clamwin/db" --config-file="c:/docume~1/than/locals~1/temp/tmp8vuov6" --log="c:/docume~1/than/locals~1/temp/tmpizwjzu"
Error: Could not start process.
C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\freshclam.exe
File does not exist.

it was clear that Clamwin doesn't recognise the drive letter (mine was H:) so it goes to drive C:

I didn't edit anything yet. So I think I have to edit a perimeter somewhere so that ClamWin would recognise the U3 drive letter.
