ClamWin: Much Slower

Tim Clark's picture
Submitted by Tim Clark on June 4, 2007 - 2:10pm

Anybody else notice that the new version of ClamWinP takes a lot longer than the old version? The last time I ran a Full drive scan [From the Harddrive on the Harddrive] with the old version it took about 45 min. Now it takes about an hour and a half.

I'm assuming this has to do with ClamWin itself.
Anybody using the desktop version to compare to?
It seems like the skip non-executables is not working as well as before.

ClamWin: Right-click usage...

Submitted by lucian892 on June 1, 2007 - 4:28pm

I currently have this set-up in my autorun.inf on my portable device:

shell\scan=Run AV Scan
shell\scan\command=PortableApps\ClamWinPortable\App\clamwin\bin\clamscan.exe --database=..\..\..\Data\db\main.cvd --remove --recursive C:\

This part

PortableApps\ClamWinPortable\App\clamwin\bin\clamscan.exe --database=..\..\..\Data\db\main.cvd --remove --recursive C:\

ClamWin: Will not scan Real media files

Submitted by dmg on June 1, 2007 - 6:38am

I attempted to scan a single Real media file (.rmvb) and the program sat for a few seconds then brought up the usual scan completed message, only with the number of files scanned and total size of scanned files both listed as 0. It does not seem to have any problem with other file types, and the results are the same when scanning individual files or whole directories. I was using the current version (0.90.2.1) with up to date definitions. It was running from my computer's hard drive in the location to which it was originally extracted, and it was a clean install, not an upgrade.

ClamWin: can't parse new database

Submitted by darius on May 14, 2007 - 7:49am

Just upgraded to version 0.90.2.
Now I have a problem with updating the database.

The update report mentions the following:
freshclam 0.90.2 (OS: win32, ARCH: x86, CPU: i686)
ClamAV update process started at Mon May 14 13:32:51 2007
main.cvd is up to date (version: 43, sigs: 104500, f-level: 14, builder: sven)
ERROR: Can't parse new database

Anyone a hint how to fix this?

Thanks, Darius

Keepass & Password Corral conversions

Submitted by bcsco on May 13, 2007 - 7:41am

I've downloaded the plug-in for converting Password Corral files. I've placed the conversion application in the same folder where Keepass.exe is located (per instructions) and run the conversion to create a CSV file. When reopening Keepass, the Import\CSV option is still greyed out. Also when viewing Tools\Plug-ins, there's no plug-in shown. What's wrong?

Keepass 2.x Portability

Please, don't shout, I searched.

I was wondering about Keepass 2.x. I know that generally you can get portability of a beta or alpha app by just replacing the guts of the app. I seem to remember reading here (maybe not here) that Keepass 2.x uses .NET framework. I could be mistaken. Any answers would be appreciated.

ClamWin: Scan for but not cleaned off system

Submitted by Kurt Roesener on May 9, 2007 - 11:41am

Hello all

I ran the newest version of Portable version with updated DEFS.
It found 14 or so infected files, but there was not an option to clean infected files. I rebooted and the files are still infected.
I thought ClamWin cleaned files of the viruses?
Am I just blind and missing something?

What experiece have other run into?
