I thought this might be useful to some portable app developers. The program is called UPX Mass Compress (which uses... UPX, who would have guessed?), and it's a simple program that quicky compresses a bunch of dll/exe files. This program saved me lots of time for the two portable applications I maintain, especially with all the dll files in Portable Scribus.
Here's the download and information page:

Hopefully this is useful to someone, as I took the effort to make it public. I probably lost the time I saved from using this program, to make it ready for a public release.
I have been looking for a truly portable pdf reader for a while, thought I had found it with Foxit, but it writes to the registry, it occured to me that maybe a plug in for Open Office might be the answer.
Playing with things this morning I began to wonder about the automatic updates for Firefox/Thunderbird/etc. and keeping our portable versions current. The auto-update feature keeps the browser/mail reader/etc. current, but the portable versions use a launcher and perhaps other nifty stuff which isn't updated.
The pFirefox support page lists the launcher version number in the revision history which was easily compared to the launcher version number in my install. They matched; the world is good. The pThunderbird support page does not list the revision history for pThunderbird and does not refer to the launcher version at all. I've been letting my pThunderbird install auto-update since before it went gold and now I find that my launcher revision is 1.1.1.3, several revisions behind the current 1.1.4.1 found in a fresh download of the package. </ugly run-on sentence>
Soulseek(tm) is a unique ad-free, spyware free, and just plain free file sharing application.
After a lot of tweaking, and testing, here is a launcher for the request in This Thread. After one customization, you will have a self-contained, portable, and personalized Soulseek. All instructions and required information can be found in the READMEFIRST.txt file. Source code is included.

If you would like to help, comment below.
I have most done, but need some help with some of them.
Unfortunately, my computer is in repair, but as soon as it is back I will distribute the PSD sources for the ones I have done to the people that can help me.
Steve, any comments?
Hey,
I am not sure if it is wanted... for personal use I got the help files working in the portable gimp.
It was just too easy so perhaps I am just making a fool out of my self presenting it.... However, its seems (in the gimp forum here) some ppl are asking how to get it working. Perhaps a central dowload on this site should help them?
most regards
martin
I had been thinking of making a launcher for this for some time. Then, just this past weekend, it finally sunk in - uvnc is GPL! So, I modified the source to the vncviewer app, so it is now portable (I originally implemented a "-portable" parameter, which is still available below).
