Quicktime

Submitted by New_One on March 20, 2010 - 4:28am

Sorry if this has been asked before.
Is there a portable Quicktime add-on? Or a way to save the Quicktime-dlls in FFQ so that the app can handle QT-streams?
Thanks!

Setting static DNS entry in cache

Submitted by MrDuncanMike on March 19, 2010 - 3:12am

Hello, I would like to set a static DNS entry in Firefox's cache. So far I've been unable to figure out if this is possible as most everything points to extending the cache time and entry list size. I've located the following variables but am wondering if I haven't scowered the internet long enough to find the magic entry. Or if there is another way / work around.

network.dnsCacheEntries
network.dnsCacheExpiration
network.dns.disablePrefetch
network.dns.disablePrefetchFromHTTPS
network.dns.disableIPv6
network.dns.ipv4OnlyDomains

Bookmarks on LAN-Drive?

Submitted by New_One on March 17, 2010 - 10:26am

Hello and thanks in advance.
My problem:
I run FFP on two different machines. I save all information, files etc. on a LAN drive O habe access on with both computers.
Now anytime any change to my bookmarks (or any setting for that matter) has to be done manually on both machines.
Is there any way to export the setting folder to my LAN drive in a way a change on one machine would be work on the other one as well ("exporiting" the settings folder to a different location)?
Again, thanks a lot!

CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER

Submitted by dhartsoc on March 16, 2010 - 11:41pm

Prior to FF 3.6 I could type in the address bar something like "openoffice" and then press ctrl-shift Enter to go to openoffice.org. Same goes for shift-Enter to automatically go to .net. Now this is not working for me. Is this a change in behavior for FF 3.6 or something peculiar to my installation? Ctrl-Enter still works for .com.

Running from CD-ROM: annoying question for making a temp copy

Submitted by BuzzDee on March 16, 2010 - 11:12am

I want to use PortableFirefox on a CD-ROM. I know, that it cannot really run from a non-writable media, an so it makes a temporary copy on the hard drive of the host computer. That is OK. But there is always a message window, in which this is explained and in which you are asked, if you want to make a copy. And of course you have to click on "yes", otherwise FirefoxPortable will not start.

Current Version

If there is a different maker of a portable FF I need to find it because this product's performance stinks to high heaven. I like the concept but not the result.

This version takes 3-5 minutes to load on a Win7 machine with 4g memory, using a brand new USB stick.

Then when finally loaded, clicking on a link gets a 'Not Responding' faded screen for 1-2 minutes. After the screen returns and finally get to a new page, clicking a new links gives the same result!

Is there a fix or do I have no choice but to quit using this product?

Profile Manager

Submitted by salimoneus on March 11, 2010 - 3:24am

Hi,

I really dig the portable apps on here, with no dependency on registry or windows system folders, any of that junk.

One thing I don't get is why the Profile Manager was removed from Firefox? It pretty much makes the portable version useless for me, since I have several profiles that I am using throughout the day depending on what I am doing.

The Profile Manager allows the users to create a new profile in any directory they choose. This should work just fine for making new profiles on a USB stick or anywhere else a folder can be created.
