Can Someone Help Me Please: Not Deleting Mozilla Directory

Submitted by jkemp on November 24, 2009 - 8:57pm

Hi to all.

I have a problem where firefoxportable is creating a directory in [user]\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox and does not delete it when closed. I am using the latest firefoxportable. I can see the \mozilla\firefox directory structure under [user]\application data\ and it seems to be where all the extensions are used and is deleted when the apps is closed.

Do you all think I have an extension that is creating this directory under "[user]\local settings\application data\mozilla\firefox?"

Should it be creating this directory under both:

Multiple instances of firefox AND secondary launches with both!

Submitted by dors on November 23, 2009 - 1:36pm

I desperately want to run two instances of firefox at the same time (a local one and a portable one) and YET have the freedom to have secondary launches with both (see, I want to use this amazing program to choose which one I want to use whenever I click on a link in a program/url in windows explorer). I've learnt here that firefox portable simply doesn't support secondary launches in Multiple Instances mode.

If zoom settings are site-wide...?

...how do you get all pages on a site to the same zoom settings?

When I surf Newegg, some pages have the text way too large. Others, it's normal, but when I try to normalize the large text, it makes the pages with normal text unreadable (the text becomes too small).

Greasefire offers no solutions for Greasemonkey, so it can't be too widespread a problem.

Is there a way to reset the zoom settings, in case it's something stupid I did?

Changing cookies location

Submitted by AnneAa on November 20, 2009 - 4:21am

Hi, I'm a new user to this forum.
I use Firefox 3.5 Portable in a terminal server environment, and need to change the location of cookies (the cookies.sqlite-file) from %programfiles%\FirefoxPortable\Data\Profile to the users terminal profile location, ex. %appdata%\ff_cookies.

Can I modify the prefs.js or add a FireFox.ini or is it possible at all...?

Would be VERY grateful if anyone could help Smile

Anne

Add-on FastestFox - endless pages

Submitted by Q Mark on November 19, 2009 - 10:46pm

I'm using Firefox 3.5.5 on win xp. I tried uninstall then install w/both restarting browser & pc as well as restart Firefox after clearing the cache. Nothing happened, it is still not working. Could there be something wrong with my Firefox profile. Any ideas of how I could go about finding out what's wrong with my firefox profile if it is that? Any ideas of what is going on at all?

FF 3.6 betas not useful.

Submitted by wvJotyV8O8N43X8DMXpN on November 19, 2009 - 11:41am

I'm sorry to say this but the 3.6 beta series of FF is a disaster.

None of the three of them are working properly. It is flooding with chrome errors even if all extensions are disabled.
I'm talking about the upgrade situation from version 3.5.5 and I'm not going to do a fresh install because I don't want to reinstall and reconfigure all of my about 40 extensions.

And furthermore it keeps constantly messing around with extensions.ini. 9 out of 10 times it doesn't recognize the path properly and then I have to set it manually in that file.

Update bug - why does it update when updating is turned off?

Submitted by don gilcrease on November 18, 2009 - 12:16am

This may be addressed elsewhere in this forum, but I do not have the time or inclination to go through the forum to find it, so here is my problem:

I have version 3.5.3 installed, and the update options all unchecked in Options > Adanced > Update. Do not assume I do not have the options unchecked, as I absolutely do. However, Firefox continues to update itself, as well as the addons, and can't seem to update itself correctly.

FAQ - Privacy

Submitted by port_user on November 14, 2009 - 10:15pm

"All your cookies and other data is self-contained on your portable device" - where exactly are cookies located on the portable device? Suppose we did not choose the option 'delete cookies when Firefox exits," then where to go to manually remove them? Also, what about the temporary files open in the portable Firefox? Are they save on the portable device (where?), or in the System's Local Settings folder, or not saved at all? Thanks

Addon Bork: Recovery?

Submitted by seremina on November 9, 2009 - 7:12pm

I was trying out 3 new addons and when I restarted Firefox Portable, it crashed. I tried launching it again. Crashed. I can normally solve things on my own, but this one has me stumped. There's no Safe Mode in Portable Firefox (or I can't find it), so I can't figure out which addon is borking it. What do I do?
