I've just read a comment on this thread about firefox portable's pathetic performance when trying to start up (30 - 75 seconds).
I'm guessing this relates to the size of the software ("9MB download / 27-77MB installed"), and it trying to drag all this data into memory to start up.
Is there something that can be done to fix this problem? Adding a much more streamlined brower to portableapps.com perhaps?
The actual version of FF doesn't display (at least on my PC) the suggestive pictures in front of the bookmarks located on toolbar.
Showing their pics would make it easier to find them.
My application needs to execute some URL. I need to open this URL in Firefox Portable. If there is a already installed and running other Firefox, than my Firefox Portable, FP will not execute (There is well know message about another running instance).
As many of you know, the taskbar in Windows 7 works a little differently than Windows in the past. If you pin an application to the taskbar, it doesn't go away when you close the app. This feature in Windows 7 has essentially replaced Quick Launch toolbar.
Hello,
"Xmarks not compatible with Firefox 3.5.2" was what was seen after I tried to add-on Xmarks (3.1.0) to Firefox 3.5.2 portable. The quote is not completely true because Xmarks (3.1.0) is compatible with Firefox 3.5.2 (standard). I never had Xmarks as an add-on to Firefox 3.5 portable or any other version. Before I downgrade Firefox on my U3 flash to a version compatible with Xmarks, I'd like to know the most recent version Xmarks worked with, if any.
Please advise!
I've been using Portable Firefox for a year or so with no problems so decided to install it on a second USB stick but after installing it with the same extensions as the other & my main Firefox I removed the drive & each time that I put it back in later to use it & tried to run FF again I got the crash report & each time I tried to choose to restart FF from that the crash report just kept opening again, Quit Firefox is the only option that works so I deleted the Portable Firefox folder off the drive & reinstalled again but the same thing just happened again, I've tried

Periodically I have a problem. Disk cache disappear.
I can not be sure, but i think it happens when firefox does not exit clearly (crashes or computer hang up).
It is possible to avoid disk cache cleanup?
my normal mode is to be running 2 instances of firefox, with the 2nd one started in sandboxie. i use the 2nd one for random surfing/searching and also clicked links in emails open in it.
when i try to open a 2nd ffportable in the sandbox, i get a message telling me to shut down the other instance.
is this really a limitation of ffportable vs regular?
When I go to the help menu there is no Check for updates... option. Instead there is a "loading" animation next to the words "Downloading Firefox 3.5.2." I have NOT checked for updates, but it automatically starts downloading. The download never says that its finished, but it has updated itself automatically when I restart Firefox. The weird thing about this is that I have disabled automatic updates under the Tools>Options menu. This is a portable edition running off a flash drive. This wouldn't be a problem if I didn't want to update to Firefox 3.5.2.
