Hello guys,
I am "playing" with Portable Firefox so we can make an easy solution for on our network. Let's say I want the following situation:
- C:\ volume (local): Firefox Portable executables
- D:\ volume (network mapping): Firefox profile
I already tried this with a FirefoxPortable.ini with the following settings:
[FirefoxPortable]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=D:\Firefox
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe
AdditionalParameters=
LocalHomepage=
DisableSplashScreen=false
Does FFP use the user's default folder at
C:\Documents and Settings\*User*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
or does it make use of a special folder? The reason I'm asking is because I sometimes find that my anti-virus picks up stuff that is left from sites I visited. When I clean these folders, it doesn't always seem to help.
I use FFP's built-in private data cleaner, as well as the Piriform CCleaner program.
Firefox portable is not truly independent. It cannot be run at the same time as the non-portable version. Trying to do that gives this error message: "Another instance of Firefox is already running. Please close other instances of Firefox before launching Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition."
As many of you already know, there are Community Builds of Mozilla Firefox available. These builds are optimized by alternating the way Firefox runs using different code of other such methods. The way PortableApps.com optimizes their builds is by using AppCompactor.
Note: This is not the same Firefox profile as the one indicated in this topic; it's the one on my flash drive, which was never used in that situation/test.
Is it just me, or does Amazon.com not like Firefox (Portable?) too much?
My wife's reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and asked me to order the second book online. I'm like, OK, fire up Firefox, hit Amazon.com... I got this funny "Associates Stripe" on the top that was acting funny, so I tried to disable it - crash. Went back in, figured I'd leave it alone, pulled up the page for the second Dark Tower book... crash.
At about line 477, below the "CheckIfRemoveLocalFiles:" label, I don't understand why there is a Pop $R0 command. Can somebody tell me why ?
Lets start with a screenshot.

As you can see, FireFox is open but there is no icon visible in the superbar. It disappears like 20 times a day but I'm unable to find a way to reproduce it. However, it reappears as soon as I click on it. But sometimes (maybe if the icon disappears while mimized) I can only bring it back with Alt+Tab.
There's something I don't like about ff 3.5.
You see, I usually copy a tab by dragging while holding Ctrl. This is useful when you don't want to leave a page but want to do something else on the same site, for example a search.
I suppose there are other ways to do that, but I was comfortable copying tabs the way I mentioned and now it's gone!
I'm sure that somebody knows how to fix it.
Thanks for your support.
