Flash plugin difficulties

Submitted by kalisana on February 6, 2009 - 8:16am

I tried using "the easy to use Flash installer for FF Portable" but that didn't work.
I tried the extension option but got this error message: "Install script not found-204".
I tried the so-called "geeky method" (copying the NPSWF32.dll file from my hard drive to my USB's FF plugins folder) but that didn't work.
I tried rebooting the browser and the computer each time I tried and retried these methods but that, also, didn't work.
I've spent 4 hours working on this "simple" project for no result, so, how does one watch The Daily Show or Colbert Report without changing browsers?

Won't launch

Submitted by Karkas on February 5, 2009 - 1:12pm

I just downloaded firefox portable and it refuses to launch or crashes before it gets a chance. As soon as I click the firefoxportable.exe link I get a portable apps popup box that looks like some kind of launch window. Then it vanishes and firefox portable never pops up. It's as if I never tried to launch it.

BBC News Video

Submitted by Kranor on February 2, 2009 - 3:58am

From what I understand the BBC News Website streams video media via the Dirac codec. On my Work PC I can watch this video stream via IE but i cannot view this stream using FF portable 3.05 or any earlier versions. I have added the DLL File to enable WMP usage in FF Portable but to no avail. If anyone can get this working it would be much appreciated.

Showing plug-ins window on different computer

Submitted by Frank1 on February 2, 2009 - 1:43am

Hello,
I have a number of extensions installed and all work o/k.
When I launch FFP on a different computer, the plug-ins window pops up with all the extensions shows and a line near the top saying that 1 new extension has been installed.

I have deleted extensions.ini, extensions.rdf and extensions.cache. These get re-created next time FFP is launched, But when take the USB dribe to another computer and launch FFP there, the plug-ins window pops up again.
Than you for any suggestions.

Pass environment variable to portable firefox

Submitted by carlf on January 31, 2009 - 4:07pm

I like to use vimperator with firefox. Unfortunately, they expect a config file in the user folder. That can be overridden by setting an environment variable on startup. Is the PA wrapper able to pass arbitrary environment variables? Is there some other way to get it to work?

Thanks,
Carl Flippin

Windows 7 beta

Submitted by Hondarider on January 30, 2009 - 2:49pm

I did a search but could not find this problem listed in that if you are using Firefox Portable on Windows 7 beta your bookmarks are stored by windows in the user folder even after you have removed the drive containing Firefox Portable from the pc.

IE: c:\user\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxx.default.

just do a search for the rest.
Sorry if this has been posted elsewear if it has can a Mod please delete.
