fx portable/default browser/default profile

Submitted by luste on February 26, 2009 - 6:08pm

on my home pc I set fx portable as a defaul browser. If fx is turned on, everything is OK, links from other apps work fine.

The problem begins when fx is turned off. If I click a link in external program then, firefox turns on, but without my profile. A new raw profile is created in c:/documents and settings/...

Turning on fx by clicking firefoxportable.exe restores my original profile.

What can I do to fix it?

My Portable Firefox runs very badly - why?

Submitted by xelaw on February 24, 2009 - 2:15am

I used to have Portable Firefox 2.0 on my old flash drive, and it worked quite well.

A couple of months ago, I got a new flash drive (USB 2), and I installed PortableFirefox 3 on it, and went on a trip. When I tried using my the PortableFirefox (all my other software on the flash drive worked OK), it was so so slow as to be useless. I attributed it to the fact the maybe the USB port on the PC I was working with was slow, and I used the Firefox installed on the PC instead. That PC was a new Dell model, and now I'm not sure it was a USB port problem.

How do you direct the "View Source" in Firefox Portable to open Notepad ++ Portable?

Submitted by blastprocessing0 on February 18, 2009 - 8:52pm

How do you direct the "View Source" in Firefox Portable to open Notepad ++ Portable? I know I can specify an absolute path (e.g. "E:\PortableApps\Notepad++Portable\Notepad++Portable.exe") for my view_source.editor.path in the Firefox about:config BUT I cannot always guarantee that my flash drive will be the "E" drive. Is there another way to write this path so that no matter what drive letter my flash drive gets mounted to it will always work?

After install Firefox 3.0.6 Add-on's problem

Submitted by inscreve on February 18, 2009 - 3:21am

Since i update from Firefox 3.0.5 to Firefox 3.0.6 some Plug-ins appears to be updated and says that Firefox needs to restart.

When i do it and check the plugin list, the message "This Add-on will be updated when Firefox is restarted." shows again.
Then i restarted and there it is again.

Funny is that when i first run this version my top bars look weird, with double size and duplicat buttons.
This only stoped when i ask to update all plugins.

I updated firefox like i always did, extract "install" file to Firefox 3.0.5 folder.

Hello. My 3.0.6 Firefox portable has a problem with saving files.

When I click on a link to save any file the 'save as' box apears but the 'save button' does nothing, ie, the file won't be save. Now I oberved that the 'save as' in 'menu file' does not work too. I can not save the pages also.

Any idea?

clean installation of Firefox Portable version 3.0.6

Submitted by alex807 on February 16, 2009 - 8:56am

Hi. I just want to clarify something about a clean installation of Firefox Portable version 3.0.6. After installing the portable version into a folder on drive D:, a folder is created in C:\Documents and Settings\A\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox. If I erase the folder, the next time I launch ff portable, the folder is recreated. Does anybody have any idea as to why this happens?

Proxy not working - allways direct connection

Submitted by microch on February 14, 2009 - 11:05am

hi all

hope someone can help me as i am going nuts.

currently using v 3.0.6 portable. in the past proxies used to work fine, but now when i set firefox to use proxy it never uses the proxy settings even though they are activated and stick.

connection is allways direct as if there is not proxy set.

i checked prefs.js and looks good - has to be anyways as settings stick even when restarting firefox but just dont work i.e. are ignored.

hope anyone experienced the same and has a solution.

lookinf forward to any hints - tks
