Submitted by gregnorris on October 23, 2008 - 4:38pm

I found a site that has something about a portable java but, I'm not sure if it will work or not. Also, I've been having issues with save as. I've tried it on multiple computers all but 1 of which were running XP. The other was a Vista. Almost forgot the site for the java thing is http://www.pendriveapps.com/2008/09/08/portable-java-run-java-from-a-fla...

Portable Firefox reads registry

Submitted by stek on October 22, 2008 - 3:07pm

Hi there

My PC is a Lenovo T61p with Vista Ultimate SP1. Lenovo has a pre-installed "ThinkVantage ClientSecuritySolution" (CSS). Part of that (crap) is a Password Manager (PWM) that integrates itself since the newest version as an Add-On in Firefox over the following registry entry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions]
"{FCF36B88-1BBA-487f-B64B-D2E8980A9293}"="C:\\Program Files\\Lenovo\\Client Security Solution\\PWM Firefox Extension"

3.0.3: Search box broken

Here is the error console report

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/search/search.xml :: initialize :: line 527" data: no]

I'm guessing some file got corrupted?

A fresh install is fine, but I'd rather not loose all my cookies and saved form/passwords.

Firefox always crashes after restart following plugin install

Submitted by peterg75 on October 20, 2008 - 11:38am

After successfully installing a plugin or a theme, and restarting firefox using the Restart button an an add-ons screen, the app never comes up. Instead I get Mozilla crash detector asking me whether I want to quit or restart. If I press restart then a generic version of FF comes on (without using my profile) if I quit it and start normally, it comes up normally with all plugins properly functioning. So it seems that a profile gets hosed every time after plugin install (or update) but fixes itself on cold restart.

Lost profile info and setting from FF214 to FF303

Submitted by makruss on October 20, 2008 - 2:42am

Looks like this problem is persisting from different version of FF and from different mediums. As Subject line reveals it started from version 214 and it has bugging me to this day when I using FF303. On this time I have using mutliple mediums (Apacer 1G & 2G, Corsair Survivor 4G & 16G and at least 4 different laptop hard drives (Samsung, Hitachi and from 20G up to the 160G) with portable box.

Default Internet browser problem of portable Firefox.

Submitted by ollydbg23 on October 19, 2008 - 11:06am

HI, As we know, the portable Firefox will store the user profile data in the folders like "...\FirefoxPortable\data\...", and If I set the portable Firefox to be the "default browser" ( my system is windows XP ). Each time I double click on a URL, the "raw Firefox will be executed" instead of the "portable ff", so, a profile will automatically created in the "c:\document and setting\.....".

Does anyone see this problem. How to solve the problem and the let the true portable ff be invoked.

Thanks.

Hi

Just received the error that Firefox.exe was blocked access attempting to run \windows\system32\format.com when trying to run v. 3.0.3 on a machine with Cisco Security Agents installed.

I've tried the support & FAQ pages, as well as a forum search - no joy.

Any advice or info ?
