Firefox Portable

corrupt profile

Submitted by Amalas on October 1, 2008 - 10:18am

Since I've been having massive problems with FF, I decided to give MozBackup a try. However, it says that I have a corrupt profile. I removed all traces of FF, reinstalled it fresh , and it still says I have a corrupt profile. I tried installing FF on my local drive instead of my USB drive, so I know it's not a USB drive problem. What is going on?

EDIT: I was able to use Toucan to backup my profile, so it's probably a MozBackup issue. Never mind.

2 Firefox processes running.

I have recently put FX Portable on one of my machines. It's version 3.0.3. I also have desktop Firefox 2 on this machine. When ever I launch FF3 Portable I get 2 processes in Task Manager. One for Firefox Portable and one that just says Firefox. Firefox Portable is running but not regular Firefox why is this happening?

Portable Firefox address Bar does not act like normal version

Submitted by clwoodard on September 30, 2008 - 9:57am

When using the normal version of FF3 (or 2) when you click in the address bar, the currently listed URL will highlight as if a select all has been performed in the address bar.

The portable version does not and this has become extremely annoying since the address bar does not act as it should.

Any way to fix this with about:config or another means? Or was this feature removed because the feature was not liked by the "portablers" who put the app together?

Thanks.

Problem with .URL ("Internet Shortcut") files 2

Submitted by karra on September 29, 2008 - 3:09pm

I associate PortableFirefox to .URL setting the registry entries as the post: "Problem with .URL ("Internet Shortcut") files"
This works, open the URL and charge my portable profile, but further windows shows a message box that say: "Window cant find the....", but the page has charged.

¿How i cant avoid this message?

How-to create Firefox Portable Live for Mac OS X and Linux?

Submitted by jiragh on September 27, 2008 - 3:40pm

Hi *,

Firefox Portable Live ist interesting, but:
Are there any instructions ...

... on how-to create a Firefox Portable Live "from scratch" (i.e. by downloading the regular FF distribution from mozilla.com)?
... doing this for both the Mac OS X and Linux version of FF?
... where to find the Launcher source in the FF source provided by portableapps.com (so to somehow adopt it to Mac OS X and Linux)?

Won't update

Submitted by Keith Warner on September 27, 2008 - 7:02am

I don't know if this a Portable problem or a Firefox one. The update to 3.0.2 went fine, but with this one clicking "Restart Firefox now" closes the browser, then pretty soon the updater shows up in Task Manager, but instead of seeing "Firefox is installing..." I get the Windows "Run as.." dialog box. When I click that, it and the updater are gone and I start over (4 times). Any ideas?
