Extensions will not finish installs

Submitted by squeeze on November 25, 2006 - 6:47am

I'm running FFP 2.0, an upgrade from my FFP 1.5.0.7 installation. I never used extensions before in FFP and decided to start with 2.0. I installed Adblock Plus, Tab Mix Plus, and the Adblock Filterset updater. The initial installs went fine but all three say that the installation will finish when Firefox is restarted. When I restarted (either by prompting from the extension install or manual), the extensions still do not install. I have rebooted several times and check to make sure not Firefox.exe processes are running.

Any other ideas? A new profile?

PROXY.PAC

I have my PAC file setup to use a proxy at work and not at home and it's worked out great in testing on my home and work laptops, but when I switch to my desktops, I run into some problems.
Since the laptops have a single optical drive, and the desktops have two optical drives, the drive letter for the PAC URL in PFF is wrong. That's fine for my home desktop b/c if the PAC file isn't found it switches to direct connection, but for my work PC (which I use primarily) the file isn't found and I get no connection until i redirect the file.
Is there any way to use a generic URL that points to wha

Use Which Plugin Folder ?

Submitted by PeterB on November 24, 2006 - 5:06am

Hi

When installing Plugins (Flash, Shockwave, etc.) I tried to follow the instructions at:

https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#cd

Which says: ".. Copy the plugin .. to your FirefoxPortable\plugins directory"

However my Firefox Portable has 3 plugins directories:

..\FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\plugins
..\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\plugins
..\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins

Which plugin folder should I use or does it matter ?

Problem in allways check to see if Portable Firefox is my default browser at startup

Submitted by and73nxcyr6a93h... on November 23, 2006 - 7:17am

I'm using the portable firefox ver. 2.0 and everytime I start it up I have to check manually if it's my default browser. It seems that it's not memorizing the "Allways check to see if Firefox is my default browser at startup".

Anyone knows what to do?

Firefox very slow and sometimes unresponsive - any ideas?

Submitted by mudroads on November 23, 2006 - 1:10am

I am using Firefox portable from a USB drive in internet cafes in Thailand. The drive is USB 2, but most of the computers are the slower USB 1.

I find that Firefox is very slow to load (approx 2 minutes) and sometimes slow to respond (perhaps when it is loading a page) - I just have to wait for it to finish whatever it was doing and the hourglass goes away before I can e.g navigate in the bookmark menu. Also if I delete or add a bookmark, this takes perhaps more than half a minute before I can do anything else. When closing Firefox, the application disappears immediately, but firefox.exe persists in the processes for some time.
