Question: Unpack Firefox 2.0 into Apps folder?
Is it sensible to follow the procedure suggested here and use Universal Extractor simply to unpack Firefox 2.0 files into the "Apps" folder of Firefox Portable 2.0 RC3?

I appologize in advance if this quetion appears to be viewed as "needy" - I do appreciate all the time and effort that John and others have devoted to this community.
For FF 1.x subreleases, I have been able to select "Check for updates..." from the help menu to update FFP. However, as of this morning, I still receive a message stating no new updates for my version 1.5.0.7.
Will we need to wait for a major reinstall for the major release 2.0? Or am I just being impatient and need to wait for the update servers to catch up to the new release?
Jeff
I run FfP 1.5.0.7 from a 2gb Adata thumb drive. When doing simple things in FfP such as switching tabs or opening a page in a new tab, the CPU usage soars and either operation takes a very long time. This doesn't happen with the Ff run from my C drive, nor do any other programs run slowly from the thumb drive.
Am I the only one having this problem?
Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks for your help.
I need to upgrade from FF1.5.7 on my iPod, which I installed manually (not a PortableApp.com mod), to FF2.0 Portable. Will my bookmarks, extensions, etc... be automatically migrated to the new install? If not, what are some ways I can gain access to those again?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
List any extensions that are marked as incompatible, but work.
Colorful Tabs 1.4
The latest dev-build of Tab Mix Plus works, and seems quite stable.

Shazou's latest version (1.1) is compatible and is marked as such.
Anybody heard of issues with any XUL extensions in FFP 2.0. I currently use Wizz RSS News Reader 2.1.6 and have tried Calc 1.0.2.1. Both are XUL apps. Looks like the Calc kept a history.
Any issues I should be careful of?
John,
I just "killed" a Firfox Portable RC3 session on purpose using the task manager.
When I started Firefox again it opened up all the tabs I had before. This is what this feature is supposed to do. But I wonder, might it not be a good idea to have this disabled by default in Firefox Portable to save "writes" to the flash drive. I know this is why disk cache and history are disabled. I assume that for Session Restore to work it must write the state of Firefox, all its windows and all its tabs to the drive so it can restore them. This, I assume happens over and over and over again.
I would like to update the launcher to the latest version, but I am unable to find a link to download only the launcher. There used to be a link to the latest launcher on the old site. Was it removed or am I missing it?
I would like to update my Portable Firefox to 2.0, so downloading the latest full package would be just a waste of (expensive) bandwidth. Also I can not use the automatic updating include with Firefox, since I'm runnig it from a network drive with very limited free space...
I'm currently using launcher 1.1.3.0, will there be any update issues?
Is it possible to password firefox so people cant just open it and use it? the reason i ask is because i like to save passwords.
I've enjoyed firefox, especially the portable version, for many reasons. However, firefox has trouble displaying text in correct proportion. I recently noticed that IE does not share this tendency.
Take a look at this screenshot to see what I mean:

Is there a workaround for this firefox characteristic? I'd love to keep enjoying its other benefits which outweigh IE but this one is a little annoying.
FYI my screen resolution is 1920X1200, and all text on the firefox window shown has been scrolled down to the minimum size allowable.
thanks for any suggestions
