Firefox portable 64-bit and JPortable

Submitted by Kent.Coley on June 15, 2014 - 8:21pm

Might I ask if anyone has had problems with the Firefox 64-bit Nightly version not working with the 32-bit version of Jportable? I have installed both in a new folder, but the 64-bit Firefox does not seem to recognize JPortable, although it works correctly with the 32-bit version of Firefox Nightly. I saw that the 64-bit version of JPortable does not work with browsers, but I wasn't sure about the 32-bit version. Thank you for the help with this, and if I can provide any more information, please let me know.

Delete/cancel update before "restart to update"? [where is the file]

Submitted by MattPort on June 14, 2014 - 6:38pm

Hello, I am staying with fx 28 pending possible switch to palemoon/other, I have updates turned off. I have FX portable installed to my desktop for years. FX crashed and I impulsively decided to uncheck the "send report, page you were on" etc, restarted, and to my horror saw "update in progress" [it never did that with the send report turned on]. I closed the update window, shut the new firefox window [I knew something was up because it was asking permissions for some addons and looked different], then restarted firefox portable from my start menu shortcut. My old session came back.

Portable FF 30 crashes (cache problem)

Submitted by Burzemon on June 12, 2014 - 4:54pm

Portable FF 30 crashes (becomes a black window and error message appears) when browsing pages with lots of gif-animation or map sites with lots of photos (such as wikimapia.org, panoramio.com, maps.google.com).
This is closely connected with RAM-cache: if you open Task manager (ctrl+shift+esc), then open wikimapia.org, for example, and zoom in and out looking at some pictures, you can see how high memory usage is growing. On my PC it reaches about 2.3 - 2.5 Gb out of 4 Gb of RAM installed (Windows 7 32bit) and crashes.
This happens on clean Firefox Portable (no add-ons installed).

Tabs/windows not synced

I switch between an installed version of Firefox, Firefox Portable and Firefox on Android. I set up Firefox Sync on all 3. Since I use Firefox Portable most of the time, I would like to have its tabs/windows and bookmarks synchronized to the installed and the Android version - that's what I understand Firefox Sync is supposed to do. But ...

- tabs/windows are not synced between portable and installed Firefox (although bookmarks are synced)
- bookmarks are not synced between portable and Android Firefox (although tabs/windows are synced)

Local profile gone after install

Hi Folks,

After installing Portable Firefox on a thumbdrive, the local PC installation of Firefox has lost my local profile. Is there a special install method to avoid this or have I done something wrong?

My Windows 7 installation of Firefox uses Junction Points from the C: to D: drives:

C:\Users\Drew\AppData\Roaming\Firefox -> D:\Users\Drew\AppData\Roaming\Firefox

It appears that the Junction Point is removed by the Portable Firefox installation process Sad

Taking a profile from XP to Win 7, flash stops working

Submitted by Muffinman123 on May 19, 2014 - 8:44am

I have been having this problem since firefox single digit versions.

if I use a fresh install of firefox portable on win 7 with portable flash, it works just fine, but if I take a frequently used firefox portable from win XP, flash player just refuses to work and freezes my browser or makes it extremely slow.

I have all the plugins and settings all set for this profile, and simply copying my XP profile to a win 7 install will retain this problem anyway. what can I do to make the flash player work without creating a new profile?
