Portable Flash not working

Submitted by orschiro on May 6, 2014 - 5:44am

Hi there,

I have troubles to get Firefox Portable working with Flash Portable.

I downloaded the Adobe Flash dll from here [1] and put it into \Data\plugins.

However, when I open a website that requires Flash, Firefox ends up in an endless loop. After a while I am asked if I want to stop the script from running.

Can anyone confirm issues with Firefox Portable and Flash support or is it working smoothly for you?

Thanks for your responses!

Firefox 29 and Gmx.com file storage problem

Submitted by journalist on May 4, 2014 - 6:10pm

When using Firefox 29 portable I find that it is no longer possible to upload files to Gmx.com online file storage, nor to access Gmx.com file storage to download files from there, although Gmx.com webmail works normally. Online file storage tries to start, but does not complete the operation.

It has been possible with Firefox portable version 28 and earlier Firefox portable versions - and it works again when returning to use Firefox 28 portable again now, so this is clearly a problem specific to Firefox 29 portable.

How to specify relative path in 'browser.newtab.url'?

Submitted by Drugoy on May 1, 2014 - 5:01pm

Hi.

I'd like to use a path to a local .html file for 'browser.newtab.url' about:config pref.
The .html-file that path points to - is in the FirefoxPortable folder, just next to firefoxpotable.exe.

How to assign a value so, that the path would be relative to firefoxportable folder?

If I assign a static path - it will stop working as soon as I move FirefoxPortable folder to a different place.

How do I secure my firefox profile?

Like many users, I use Xmarks to sync all my bookmarks. If I lose it, anyone who runs my FF portable will be able to visit all my saved websites, and be logged in as me.

I don't have admin rights, so can't use TrueCrypt to protect the drive.

I use SanDisk 'Secure Access' for office documents. But encryption doesn't work well for the portable apps folder; it takes too long to encrypt/decrypt, and the apps don't run from within the container, so you have to then copy everything out and back in.

How does everyone else secure their portable firefox?
