Firefox Portable

What is the use of portable applications if you can only connect with them from home? Well it seems i am behind some kind of proxy, however your get proxy utility didn't give any solution. the IP line was empty.

There is nothing in the IE settings where you are supposed to see the IP. though the default IE8 works just fine. i also managed to install Chrome on computer and it works more or less fine. some sites still get blocked as we have a filter.

With the Version3.6 i can zoom the site
with 2 finger on my tablet.
It does not work with the 4er Version.

I'm trying to use it at my local library. I'm doing so because I'm trying to figure out how to use the latest version of flash at the terminal. The tech staff here won't be upgrading for many months.

When I double click FirefoxPortable.exe, I get this message

"Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information open Event Viewer or contact your system administrator"

Hi , i have just loaded firefox on my flash drive and i have problem in opening it at library computer cause it says that soemthing i cant remeber but it is about that this computer is restricted and i cant use the program try contecting admin...

now this is useual and by know you may think nothing can be done .. but then i ask how come skype run okay from my flash drive ??

is there a way to get round it??

We are trying to implement Firefox Portable on our terminal servers.

Current situation:
A program calls an instance of ffp locally to display data. The users have the option to enable a timer that refreshes the data every X minutes, which means that it opens another instance of firefox and shuts down the old one.
As long as the instances are local, everything works fine.

I run 2 computers, 1 at home and 1 at work. Up to V3.5, I used to sync FF with my copy on a USB drive and take it to the other computer and sync it to the other computer. This has worked ok. Now that I have upgraded to V4.0.1, this method no longer works. Firefox launches, stays in the task bar and can only be maximized.
The main reason I am doing it this way is that I want to continue to work with tabs I had before. I could make this all work if I knew the file that contains the tabs. This way I would only have to sync that file and continue to work.

I have installed Firefox Portable 3.6.13 to the C section of my computer yesterday, and after having invested 5 (FIVE!!) hours in getting all my add-ons and settings installed therein which I used in my older version of Firefox (installed version, not portable), I wanted to copy my new FFP to another drive to save the present state in case something happens, and also so that I have all my add-ons and settings saved for the next update.

Unfortunately I don't know the name of it, as our IT group took care of it. But the trojan was traced to my use of FF Portable. Since I've stopped using it, no trojans. The trojan would hide files, and delete minor files in my windows xp profile.

I have been using Firefox portable for some time now, and have bookmarks, etc stored in my profile. I also have a brand new install of the PortableApps suite including Firefox - with a later version installed.

What is the best way to "merge" my existing installation into the new installation, keeping the newer version but copying over my profile?

PS One way I've though of is to replace the new copy with my older one, then run the updater to update it to the latest version. That doesn't seem particularly hard to do - would that be the best option?

I try to switch from 3.6 to 4.0 (and now 4.0.1) but firefox doesn't launch.

The splash screen appears, then disappears, and then... nothing.
I can see FirefoxPortable and firefox.exe in the task manager, but that's all.

It is a new fresh install (not an update), and the safe mode does the same.

Thanks for any idea.
