Just a quick question as to whether the launcher for Firefox or Thunderbird can run a .bat (or any file for that matter) file on exit? Or whether anyone knows of a extension that does the same thing.
The reason i'd like to konw if this functionaliy exists is because i want it to run my EncryptonClick .bat on close, automatically. If anyone has any other suggestions to acomplish the same thing, please post.
Thanks
It looks like my portable firefox is getting settings from the localstore on hard drive.
The effect is that whenever I plug my key in a PC with a fix version, I get the local user settings...
how can I change this ?
If I open winecfg and go to the devices I can change the paths. It works if I choose "/media/windows_c" für the letter C: but Firefox and Thunderbird (I don't test the other here) don't start. I can start other applications like Putty etc. but not Firefox and Thunderbird.
If I change the path at C: to "/media/CORSAIR" (my USB-Stick) Firefox works fine. What can I do that it works on other letters as I, G, P etc.?
i will start this here on the FIREFOX section, but it basically
applies to most of the other PortableApps too:
>> Download History Cleared
>> Browser History Disabled
>> Form Info Saving Disabled
>> No Disk Cache
>> None of your personal data is left behind
these were the main points one likes and uses those applications,
and what made them famous.
in my case, i will for technical and space reasons have to use one
of those newer HDDs, 1 inch or 1.8 inch, with as much as 60GB
available on them. plenty of space to ignore the first 4 points
mentioned above, but certainly not the last one, as i still will
Hi Guys,
I have a thumb drive which I bring to work and I use it for carrying around Portable FireFox. Can I use the same instance of Portable FireFox so that it has two profiles one for when Im in work and one for when Im at home.
Or would it be better to have two distinct instances one for work and one for home but then its a pain in the ass to install all the plugins again etc.
Has anyone any ideas on how long it would take to synch Portable FireFox?
Dave
I'm having an unusual problem that affects P-FFx intermittently on my work machine.
Here is the situation. I can run P-FFx from my thumb drive on my work (XP) machine, surf, etc. Everything's fine. But at some point, if I exit and try to re-run it, it crashes on startup with the following error:
Now once I get this, P-FFx will always crash on startup, even when run it in safe mode. Removing and re-inserting the thumb drive also does not help. There are no copies of Firefox or anything like Acrobat Reader hanging around, according to Process Explorer. It just won't run again.
I Downloaded FirefoxPottable so i can use it at school but my schools admin has blocked firefox from rnning. To fix this i simply have to rename the firefox.exe file but then wen the FirefoxPortable.exe File Searches for the file it cant find it. Has anybody got any idea what file i would have to modify to get it to work?

I used a previous version of FF on my Kingston 1GB Elite and it was fast; you could barely tell you were running off USB flash. It got noticeably slower so I decided to rebuild my Kingston. I started from scratch using 1.5.0.6 and it is slow. I noticed that the cache was set ot 50 MB so I set that to 0 to minimize writes; I thought that John had set the default to 0 on previous builds. I also turned off auto updates. Start up time is also a minute or more. It used to start up in a few seconds before.
The only extensions are DOM, Google Toolbar and Scrapbook.
Saving a bookmark takes minutes! Sometimes FF becomes "not responding" but will eventually come back.
