Firefox Portable ans Ad-Block

Submitted by Darkmatter on September 6, 2010 - 5:58am

Hi there!

i installed the ad-Block addon into the FF-P and it sometimes looses its configuration. i can easily Re-Add the filters i want to have, but i think its worth a second thought to fix this glitch.

i cannot say much aboput how often this occurs or such things - i have to excuse myself for this.

i hope someone has an idea how to fix this.
Thx

[RESOLVED] Download path - FF 3.6.8

Submitted by Arjofocolovi on September 4, 2010 - 2:38am

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any possibility to get firefox to use always the USB key path for downloads, no matter the drive letter is ?

I tried to change the "browser.download.dir" field in about:config to "." or "../.." but it doesn't seem to take any relative path, only absolute.

Thank you to those who will take the time to answer.

PS : Sorry for my english.

How-to disable FF-portable "Extension SCANNING" when used on different host machines with default FF already installed?

Submitted by defcon12345 on September 2, 2010 - 9:33pm

How can I configure my Firefox Portable (perhaps in about:config?) to permanently and completely DISABLE "extension scanning"?

I have my portable firefox configured just the way I like it. But when I use it on different machines it will "pick up" the extensions already installed on the host computer (if that computer has a default "real" version of Firefox already installed with those extra extensions..)

Firefox 3.6.8 run via USB stick

Submitted by anon_private on September 2, 2010 - 5:59pm

Hi,

I expanded FF - 3.6.8 for Linux on to a USB stick.

I am running this programme in concert with UBUNTU LiveCD.

It works well, but someone has told me that running FF from a USB has security implications.

Since I use this arrangement for banking, I would like another opinion, and possibly an explanation.

I have not installed UBUNTU because I only use it for banking.

I use FF from a USB stick so that I can update it.

Thanks.

Cannot uninstall add-ons in FxP 3.6.3

Submitted by patrickmaddog on September 1, 2010 - 7:48pm

I was doing some testing to find out if some of my favorite add-ons would work portably -- and most did -- but when I decided to uninstall them, restarting the browser caused the add-ons window to pop up saying that I had just installed them, and they remain in the add-ons list.

Do you know what could be causing this? Is there a way to manually remove the add-ons by deleting them from the drive? The add-ons that I am trying to uninstall are:

-Add To Search Bar
-Beef TACO
-Ghostery
-SkipScreen

The add-ons I am going to keep are:

[Resolved] Running multiple versions of portable firefox simultaneously

Submitted by mangodurian on September 1, 2010 - 6:08pm

I'm not sure how he does it, but in Germany, there's this guy that releases portable versions of firefox that can run simultaneously with other versions..

[link to illegal software removed by mod JTH]

Would it be possible/simple for future versions here to be tweaked to do likewise??

I would like to run portable 3.6.8 alongside portable version 4 for testing purposes..

or alternatively, is there something i could tweak in your versions, to allow both versions to run side by side???
