Themes?

Submitted by Lahru on October 9, 2008 - 11:36pm

Can you put themes into the portable version of FF?

I'm having some difficulty in searching the forums for this question. It seems it'd be a fairly simple thing, yet I don't see anything in FAQs or by doing a search. I have a full version of FF installed on the PC I am using and it seems as though the themes I am downloading are going to directories related specifically to that installation rather than the port. I am using the Port version's addon manager to try to install these.

Crash reporter creates files on host

Submitted by James A on October 7, 2008 - 7:08am

I've noticed that that there are some files created by Firefox Portable in the default user directory in Windows.

These belong to the new Mozilla Crash Reporter (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad), and there are also some extension folders created. That knowledge base article suggests a way to disable the crash reporter, but should this not be done by default to make the app truly portable (ie not leave data on the host)?

Cannot run profile manager? (AdditionalParameters= -profilemanager doesn't work!)

Submitted by loveleeyoungae on October 6, 2008 - 5:38am

I tried adding the -profilemanager parameter to the FirefoxPortable.ini but it doesn't work. Neither do -CreatProfile profile_name , -P parameters.
However, -safe-mode parameter works.

So, is it because of Firefox Portable? Is there any way for me to create profiles in Firefox Portable?

Balooning FF3 mystery 10 megs

Submitted by taosk8r on October 4, 2008 - 3:34pm

So, I been having this weird issue with my portable firefox. When I start out a clean copy, nothing but all my usual profile information and extensions added, this size shows about 25 megs. Just to pre-empt, yes, I tried clearing my cache, and that didn't work. Anyhow, after browsing for a few hours and logging into a few sites, when I zip it back up, the size balloons by like 10 megs to 35! Any ideas?

Big Bookmark Problem

Submitted by ggrosser on October 4, 2008 - 4:51am

I have convinced my friend to use PortableApps on his flash drive. Since its install he has had a continuous problem with Firefox. Almost every time he opens his web browser it does not show his bookmarks and I have to re-name the places.sqlite. I am then able to restore his bookmarks then everything is fine, until he closes the browser and it will start all over. I have tried removing Firefox and installing it but nothing is different. This is strange since I haven't had one issue with mine. He now has version 3.0.3 and it still acts the same.

Shockwave plugin not working

Submitted by nightbeholder on October 3, 2008 - 10:00am

I'm having trouble to install the Shockwave plugin. I've copied np32dsw.dll to \FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins and it actually appears in the plugins windows (Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in , version 11.0). But when i open a site which needs the plugin to run it just crashes firefox. If i install the plugin normally on the pc it works fine but what i wanted was to have it portable like i have the flash plugin, the wmp plugin...

Just for the record the page i'm trying to access is www.isketch.net and when i click on "play now" firefox crashes.
