Migrating Settings?

Submitted by malikorx@gmail.com on February 10, 2008 - 10:36pm

I just use Firefox Portable on my computer and don't install the regular version. I would like the regular version on my computer, but I'm unsure as to how I can migrate all my settings, stored passwords, bookmarks, etc. from the Portable version to the Standard version. What is the easiest way to do this? I have tried CLEO and FEBE add-ons but they don't work properly with the portable version so I would prefer just copying my folders that contain the data. Can anyone help me?

Request: Savemode

Submitted by atreiju on February 10, 2008 - 4:17pm

Hi,

Problem solved
I have a big problem, can't use my Firefox Portable anymore, so I have to browse with the ugly IE:

After I read much about it, I wanted to give the FF-Addon PicLense a try. But with my old onboard-graphics, firefox isn't running anymore. I get an bluescreen of death with my 3D-Driver mentioned... Thats nothing interesting, it sometimes happens with my 3D-programs.

But how can I get my Firefox run again?
Is there a way to start it in savemode, so I can uninstall Piclense?

How Do I Update Firefox?

Submitted by malikorx@gmail.com on February 10, 2008 - 11:43am

I have been using Firefox Portable for a year now and have been allowing the auto-update feature to update my version of Firefox Portable. In the FAQ Sticky it says that it is not OK to do that. So I ask, how would I migrate all of my settings and whatnot from the directory of my old Firefox Portable to the directory of the new Firefox Portable? Or is there an easier way?

Portable Firefox 3b2 issues

Firstly, it's possible my main issues here are due to a messed up profile (but I don't think so). I won't have access to my home profile until, well, I go home, then I'll do some testings.

So I was just trying FF3b2 on another computer and I ran into a couple problems I don't experience in the non-portable version:

Mozilla / FFP and Updates

This is just a thought,

Lately every time FF updates we get a rash of problems from people who allow FF to update itself because we can not release FFP with that function [check for updates] disabled by default due to Mozilla licensing.

see:

and the comments after

I understand where they are coming from. Perhaps they would understand where we are coming from.

Registry Entry Left

Submitted by Devo on February 8, 2008 - 10:22am

I don't know if this is a bug with FF or FFP, but I noticed a registry entry was left after closing FFP and letting it close completely. I downloaded and installed the most recent version (2.0.0.12) with no other extensions or themes installed. I did not change any options either. I can surf the internet normally with this clean version, close FF and nothing is left on the computer. But as soon as I visit gmail and close FFP, a registry entry is left at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org

Read-Only execution prompt

Submitted by miobio on February 7, 2008 - 4:55am

Hi everybody,

I have a little problem with FF portable, if I execute it from a read-only media (i.e. a CD) it prompts me with something like "Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition appears to be running from a location that is read-only. would you like to temporarily copy it to the local hard drive and run it from there?".

Is there a way to just make FF to answer YES?

If I click "NO" it doesn't run... :-S

Thanks
