Firefox Portable

Sorry, this must have been asked and answered 00s of times already, but I can't find it. I downloaded FF 2.0 and auto-updated to FF 2.0.0.1 no problem. No default settings have been altered at all. (I like them as they are.) When surfing there's no usb activity at all (good; everything is very fast) but screen presentation on second and subsequent page visits is not just fast, it's instantaneous. Where are all the pages, images, etc being cached? RAM? the HD?

I hope someone here can help me. I'm relatively new to Linux. I was a windows user for a long time but got increasingly frustrated with it and switched over a few days ago. I have a pocket drive with my portable firefox and gaimportable on it. Can't get either to work. Firefox keeps saying another instance of firefox is already running but not responding. It needs to be cleared if I want to load up or I need to go and reboot. Trouble is, this is just after I reboot. So Firefox isn't running.

The problem is very simple i do not have a local copy or local install of Firefox i use portable Firefox itself to surf the web on my regular NON PORTABLE PC
Now i am using Portable Firefox 2.0
Now let us suppose you update to Portable Firefox 2.0.1
Now how to i update my Portable Firefox 2.0 (Which has not been automatically updated using auto update) to Portable Firefox 2.0.1 with out loosing any of my settings like bookmarks , cookies , history , profiles , extension

Problem again restated is

I get the plugin working in normal Firefox 1.5 / 2 by copying npvlc.dll, libvlc.dll and part of the plugins from /vlc/plugins to the Firefox/Plugins map.

However both Portable Firefox and Mobile Firefox crash when the plugin is initialized. Portable Firefox 2 for some reason doesn't crash, but it won't react to any play() commands I give it either.
When bypassing the mobile/portable part by not using the loader, but directly using firefoxportable/App/firefox/firefox.exe (in PortableFirefox2) it works.

Like many people here, I've disabled the default splash screen of Firefox Portable. I am using the Add On SPLASH! to make a photo of my Gran daughter my splash screen.

Over the course of my work day, I may use 4-5 PCs. Is there any way to make the path of the .jpg that SPLASH! uses relative? That would allow her photo to always be my splash screen instead of getting a blank box when the drive shows up as anything other than E://

I've search the forums and haven't found anything about this.

I am trying to make sure this issue is not something I can fix with a setting before contacting the manufacture of the drive. What happens is that during scrolling or new page loads Firefox will stall during access to the drive. There are no crashes or anything it's just a slight annoyance. It may just be the way the drive works too but I wanted to be sure before I complain to A-Data.

I use FF 2 portable, it runs on direction d/portableapps/.... The programm creates a pluginreg.dat in c/documents/user/...*/mozilla/firefox. It creates a folder "profile" too, but there's no file in it. If I delete the folders, firefox will create the pluginreg.dat again with next start.

I don't think that's correct. Does somebody have this problem, too?

Error from instalation of portuguese language:

"Firefox could not install this item because "install-ox6..rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem"

I just found out that when I add new buttons to the toolbar [http://toolbar.google.com/buttons/], they won't install on the flash drive but the local hard drive instead. After I added buttons, closed the app and logged out (local settings purged), I logged back in and found out those buttons were gone.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

I can't load pages on my dial-up connection but they will load on a DSL connection. Any help?
