Firefox Portable

1.5 needs 2-3 Minutes to start! Help!

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 17, 2006 - 7:52am

I tried 1.5 Portable (and 1.5.0.1) these days, but they start incredibly slow (If i run PFF on my local HDD It comes up within 1-2 seconds).
There is no difference if I try a "clean" version directly from the zip archive or a configured version. Why is that? 1.0.7 Portable and earlier versions need only 5-10 seconds to start! I have a USB 2.0 stick running on a USB 1.1 port.

Firefox window will not open

I have PortableFirefox installed on a network drive at work so that I can access it from any station. I had been using it for a week or so, frustrated with how slow it would open, when suddenly I would not open at all anymore.

When I open PortableFirefox the splash screen comes up and it thinks for a minute and then nothing else happens. If I open the task manager I find firefox.exe running as a process instead of an application.

I did put a link to it in my startup folder, could that be confusing it somehow?

Can anyone help?

I'm looking for a way to install mathfonts for portable MathML support in Firefox. Is this possible?

having trouble installing portable firefox

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 14, 2006 - 10:14pm

I've tried to install portable firefox on both a 32MB thumb drive and a 128MB thumb drive without success. After I download the zip file to a folder on my desktop, I unzip it and move the files to the root directory of the thumb drive. Next step says to double click on PortableFirefox.exe. When I do this I get this message "firefox.exe was not found. Please check your configuration". The install instuctions seem simple enough. What am I doing wrong. Thanks.

Firefox and Windows scripts

Hi guys,

First time here and something to pick your brains...

I've been using the good old FavoritesHomePage created by Robert Perry a couple of years ago (it seems that he hiding somewhere in cyber space) and it is an excellent script to organize the favorites with pictures in the background, etc. it is a complicated script (to me anyway) that runs flawless under IE or Avant Browser.

Firefox does not run it and when calling the main file it just says "Loading..." and sits there not doing what it should be doing. This happens both with the full version or the portable. Is there a fix for this? Please talk English as I'm not a programmer.

Hi, Unfortunately i use AOL and if i want to connect to the internet without using the aol web browser i have to right-click on the aol quick launch icon, select dialler, type in my password and connect, i was wondering if there is a firefox extension or add-in that could do this for me.

sorry if this is in the wrong place and thanks in advance.
