Firefox requests an update

Submitted by nttuzydupcpm on February 24, 2006 - 10:46am

Is there a problem if Firefox updates itself? I have the current PortableApps Suite with Firefox 1.5, but Firefox told me it needed to update. So I let it, but it apparently only went from 1.5 (portable) to 1.5 (non-portable, I guess).

Is this a problem?

Extensions are not loading

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 24, 2006 - 10:16am

I am using since several weeks pFF, which is loaded on a USB-drive, and I am encountering some problems with it. On some PC (regardless of operating system Win2000 or WinXP) when I start the programm the extentions are nor loading. Checking the extention menue it says that these will be installed when I will restart pFF. On other PC the extensions work perfectly well. Does anyone have an explanation for this behaviour?? What can I do (check, change) when the extensions fail to load???
I appreciate any help very much.

offline reader?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 20, 2006 - 8:18pm

Hello,
My work often leaves me with plenty of free time, but no net connection.

I'd like to read the net at work. Currently I sometimes open a bunch of websites and save them to my USB-iPod, then open them at work.

If there is a really easy way of configuring an offline reader I'd love it - I have to admit I only just read about portable-firefox so I hadn't thought too much about it till now.

Any thoughts are appreciated,
THANKS
Greg
ps. I use a Mac... I guess that doesn't make a difference? I can setup a PC easy enough though.

^ under the status bar

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 20, 2006 - 1:37am

When ever I load Portable Firefox with ANY theme, or even no theme a red ^ appears under the status bar along with a huge space(about 15-20% of the screen) I used to have portable firefox, and it worked fine. I tried deleting the profile, and reloading it. I also reinstalled. Is this system spacific? How do I fix this?

Flash plugin display is too small

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 18, 2006 - 1:59pm

Is there anyway to force the flash plugin to display the animations in a larger format? Perhaps this is a problem with regular firefox also but I am only using PFF so I thought it best to ask here. I use some flash animations to show my class information and I would like to do it using PFF but it displays animations at too small a resolution even though I am projecting the image onto a large screen. I also would like to get some colleagues to switch to PFF but I think the flash glitch would be a deal killer. Here's a site so see what I am talking about: http://addictinggames.com/logicproblems.html. View the site in PFF and then in Internet Explorer and you should see a big difference. At least on my machine that is the case.

Combining bookmark files

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 17, 2006 - 3:52pm

This is probably a very basic question, but I don't know anything about programming, etc.... so,

can anyone tell me how to combine two bookmark files. I used to use one copy of Firefox on my work computer and one on my home computer, but now I'd like to use just one copy on a Jumpdrive. I've already moved all the work bookmarks to it, and now I need to move the home bookmarks.

Thanks,
MJC
