1.5.0 to 1.5.0.1 bug (?)

Submitted by towsonu2003 on February 14, 2006 - 2:19pm

I did this in two different PCs with clean portable firefoxes... The patch it downloads fails, so it ends up downloading the whole thing from scratch. then update works. It's a pain if you are on dial up (slow connection)...

I wanted to report this as a bug, but couldn't find any tools to report a bug. any ideas?

userContent.css in fresh install of PortableFirefox 1.5

Submitted by AltTab on February 14, 2006 - 11:56am

If i was using "userContent.css" where would that file go? Or what folders would i have to make...
From what i know of the profiles in Mozilla Firefox, there was a string of numbers folder then the profile folder where you can put the userContent.css file in the chrome folder (not sure how this helps...)

but i would like to know for a fresh install of PortableFirefox 1.5. Because i believe after a upgrade to 1.5.1 there are several new folders made that lead to the correct folder the userContent.css needs to be in to work.

Extension problem

I have PFF 1.5 on my USB stick with the "Mr Tech Local Install" extension.
THat has a facility to specify an editor to view or edit user.js and several other files. Because you don't know what drive letter the USB stick is going to have on a particular computer I am unable to specify a command line to find an editor.
I've thought of putting notepad in the PFF exe file directory but can't get anything to happen.

Accessing external URL from Portable Firefox - Opening the default browser from PFF

Submitted by phillyboy on February 13, 2006 - 2:08pm

Hi All,

I developed an application that uses Portable Firefox browser, and works very well with it. However, I have one problem for now. When I click on a link (hyperlink with extrnal URL) within the content are of my application, the link opens up another instance of Portable Firefox browser window for display.

Since this link is an external URL, how can I have Portable Firefox it up with user's default browser, such as IE?

Can Portable Firefox connect to a URL (external to my application), and open the URL with user's default browser (connection and proxy settings), even in a firewall environment?

And is there any working method to make PortableFirefox running completely in read-only mode? Perhaps except bookmark-manager Wink

I want to make sure not leaving any traces in operating system i ***used*** to start PortableFirefox.

***) Is PortableFirefox linked statically?

I'm having a bit of difficulty changing the splash for port firefox. I opened up the .nsi in HM NSI Editor, but have not a farking clue what to do. Plus, whenever I try to compile the .nsi, I get an error.

Invalid command: FindProcDLL::FindProc
Error in script "G:\PortableFirefox\PortableFirefoxCode\Copy of PortableFirefox.nsi" on line 187 -- aborting creation process

Any ideas? I just need to know how to change the splash, and what this error means.

Bug with Quicknote extension

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 10, 2006 - 10:25am

It happens with the new version of the Portable Firefox. I think it doesn't manage to change the relative path or something like that. That's the error shown in Quicknote Tab:

// #5 File e:\PortableApps\Data\PortableFirefox\profile\chrome\quicknote1.txt is invalid or does not exist.

Is there a reference for PFF's JavaScript? The standard DOM doesn't seem to work.

I am in a situation where I need to develop some client side magical forms with JavaScript. Everything I come up with works with IE but not with PFF. Can you direct me to a reference area for such development?

I would appreciate any help I can get.
