Lost email

Submitted by bluebomb on July 23, 2007 - 4:02pm

Well, this has happened a few times to myself and others. Thunderbird has worked great for the past couple months and now all of a sudden It's lost my email. When I start up PortableApps and launch Thunderbird, it wants me to setup a new account. My mail seems to still be in the ThunderbirdPortable>Data>profile>Mail directory. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this back? The last time it happened I just reinstalled and setup my account again, but I would really like to know how to fix this.

Sending several copies of an email to different recipients

Submitted by laddie1997 on July 23, 2007 - 6:55am

Thunderbird Portable is fantastic while travelling. However I sometimes need to send multiple copies of a press release email, with attachments, to journalists, each addressed by name. In MS Outlook I do this by forwarding. If I forward with TB, the email is sent as an attachment, which I don't want. Does anyone know a way to send out multiple copies?

Many thanks...

Running SuSE 9.2. Installed Thunderbird Portable 2.0.0.5 onto a Windows USB stick. Mounted the USB stick onto /dev/sda1, then attempted to run "wine ThunderbirdPortable.exe". This produced the following error messages:

fixme:win:SetWindowTextA cannot set text "Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition | PortableApps.com" of other process window (nil)

Transfering profile and mail settings to regular TB

Submitted by darknike on July 21, 2007 - 6:37pm

Hi!

I am new to the forum and have been using TB portable for a while, and now I want to have my profiles, emails, mail settings, and address book + extensions transferred to use a regular version (non-portable) of Thunderbird.
What is the easiest way of doing that?

Any help appreciated.

Could John release Mozilla products with the autoupdates UNCHECKED by default?

I installed the latest 2.0.0.4 Thunderbird from this site, and it came with the autoupdate option already enabled. I didn't realize this until I got updated without my consent to 2.0.0.5. While nothing bad came from it, I'd rather do my updates from this site at my own demand.

Is it a violation of any of the licenses to distribute it with these options unchecked? Or maybe John could put a warning on the DL page in the section for Updating, so people know all their options.
