New to ThunderbirdPortable (and Thunderbird) and Confused

I am a long-time user of SeaMonkey. I migrated when Netscape Navigator went under. I understand that the SM Mail interface is TB based. I also have vision issues and sometimes miss 'small but significant' options.

I'm having email download problems from my ISP and the response on the SM Mozillazine forum was to try ThunderbirdPortable to see if it could pull in mail.

One responder suggested I download Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition 52.8.0. Somehow I ended up with the more recent version.

Lost toolbar buttons

Submitted by mozfan on December 31, 2018 - 4:07pm

When I updated to TB 52.8 it kept some extra toolbar buttons from an old extension Toolbar Buttons that worked great, but wishing to add Copy/Paste I installed it again. Not only I did not get the new buttons, I lost the ones I had like Select All, Undo Redo Reset, Empty Trash, Not Junk etc. I find them crucial so I'll have to revert to an old TB version if I can't get them back. Starting with extensions disabled did not bring them back even after removing the newly downloaded Toolbar Buttons. Is there a Restore function for TB or a way to revert to a previous profile?

Thunderbird 38.5 Auto Updated?

Submitted by fefrie on December 9, 2018 - 3:37am

I run a 38.5ver portable app version of Thunderbird.

I've got it customized with a couple of addons, and use it occasionally on multiple computers in an IMAP configuration on all computers.

Works flawlessly.

Today, it seem like it 'updated' something, but when I looked to the changelog for updates, for 38.5 the updates were from 2015. 3 things, two of which was a security fix, and some sort of 256 something compatibility with microsoft.

I've got 'check for updates' turned off. So what happened today?

[Fixed] Thunderbird Lightning file addonStartup.json.lz4 paths not modified

Submitted by meowme on October 30, 2018 - 4:09am

Tunderbird/Lightning Portable
There is a bug in the PortableApps.(sorry for bad english...)
The full path to the Calendar-App is stored in "addonStartup.json.lz4" File within the driveletter.
This file will not be changned by the launcher.
So you move from one Computer to the next and the driverletter changes Thunderbird-portable
would not find the App. So there is no Calendar etc. I have try to fix it but now luck (dont know where I can
put in the "search and change" for this file.

Upgrade from 38.5

Submitted by upchuck on October 24, 2018 - 2:08am

I need to update my Thunderbird as described in the title. I tried upgrading directly to 60.2.1 but the upgrade did not go over the existing program. Instead, it wanted me to 'create a new account.'

How can I get from 38.5 to 60.2 and keep my existing settings, emails, etc?

PortableApps on Linux - failes on start

Surprised no one else has this problem after four months. Thunderbird portable failed on start for Mint 17. Appears latest wine does not include full 32 bit support. Thunderbird, even in safe mode, fails as dump shows;
