Windows 10 can't link mailto links to Thunderbird Portable

Submitted by Pkitty on January 5, 2016 - 3:14pm

I can't get Windows 10 to send mailto links to Thunderbird Portable. In the Windows 10 settings for mailto I am offered a few things I do not want, but no way to add my own preferred application. Nor can I find a TB setting to set itself as the default app for mailto links.

email link not opening Thunderbird

Submitted by Boris on November 10, 2015 - 12:05pm

If Thunderbird v38.3.0 portable is closed and I click on an email link I get a pop up window asking me to open a new newsgroup account.
If Thunderbird is open and I click on an email link I get a new message opens with the link address filled in.

How come it doesn't work when Thunderbird is closed?

Running Windows 7 64 bit.

my major problem after update to TB 38.3.0 + Lightning 4.0.3 = EVERYTHING is gone, all accounts, all mails, ... nothing, TB starts from new.
Safe mode, disabling addons, going back to TB 38.2.0 - nothing helps. After transfer of /data/profile, local accounts are back in an new profile
Annybody an idea how I get back my accounts inkl. pop3 and imap.

THX in advance.

Local Folders folder won't expand

Somehow my local folders have collapsed, and I can't reexpand them. Some I can see in explorer, but some are invisible. I use the portable version. thanks.parmil

When I tried to create a new folder with explorer in the default "local folders" folder on my hard drive, I am told there is already a folder with that name. That's what I mean by invisible.

Update Thunderbird Portable's version from 31.7.0 to 38.3.0 and lost all saved passwords

Submitted by ITFAN on October 11, 2015 - 10:07pm

Hello,

I've updated Thunderbird Portable from 31.7.0 to 38.3.0 and lost all saved passwords. Luckily when I turn back to version 31.7.0 with my profile folder I still have all the passwords remembered. But now I can't use the latest version of TB because I have too many accounts so it would be extremely frustrating if I have to enter all the passwords into the latest TB's version.

Any suggestion how to use the latest version without enter all the passwords again ? I am using Windows 10 Pro.

Thanks

size of my entire mailbox

hello,
I'm downloading right now the entire content of my Gmail account in my thunderbird portable through IMAP.
My gmail is 15GB and 41470 messages. Now I've downloaded almost 3636 message, which means 91% of the entire messages, however the size of my Thunderbird folder is only 2.44% ... how is this possible? I was expecting the same size of my actual Gmail account, is there any sort of compression?

TB portable on PCs

Hello; I like TB Portable, currently use 24.3.0, considering upgrading to current 38.2.0. Where can I find the improvement list?

Also, I see many comments RE use of USB drives, and understand that is the main purpose of TB Portable, but I want to report it is excellent as a primary email client on PCs -- I use it on my desktop, and easily copy the folder to transfer everything to my laptop, or wherever I need it to go. I prefer POP, and like to keep of all my emails in one location under my control.

Installing an old version over a new one: is it save?

Hello,

just updated Thunderbird to 38.2.0 and having now severe issues in forwarding, responding and writing emails (Thunderbird duplicates attachments, taking recipient of previous email as default for the next email, sometimes very slow inserting of names from the adressbook, hanging while typing, loss of "copy" and "cc" fields in the adress area).
