TB portable on PCs

Submitted by owl_21821 on September 21, 2015 - 3:23pm

Hello; I like TB Portable, currently use 24.3.0, considering upgrading to current 38.2.0. Where can I find the improvement list?

Also, I see many comments RE use of USB drives, and understand that is the main purpose of TB Portable, but I want to report it is excellent as a primary email client on PCs -- I use it on my desktop, and easily copy the folder to transfer everything to my laptop, or wherever I need it to go. I prefer POP, and like to keep of all my emails in one location under my control.

Installing an old version over a new one: is it save?

Hello,

just updated Thunderbird to 38.2.0 and having now severe issues in forwarding, responding and writing emails (Thunderbird duplicates attachments, taking recipient of previous email as default for the next email, sometimes very slow inserting of names from the adressbook, hanging while typing, loss of "copy" and "cc" fields in the adress area).

Copy prefs.js from local TB to Portable drags old paths

After installing Portable Thunderbird, I followed the instructions under Copying Your Local Thunderbird Settings (https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#installing) to give Portable TB the environment I had been using with non-Portable TB. Of course, I copied my non-Portable prefs.js file along with everything else.

I have Thunderbird Portable and Firefox Portable set up and working. When I click on an email address in a web page, instead of opening a new email in Thunderbird as I expected, it brings up a dialog asking me to set up a Newsgroup account. What???

I just want to send an email from my Thuderbird Portable email.

Can't send mail with TH 38.2

After updating from 31.7 to 38.2 Thunderbird Portable, installed locally on a HD with Win7 Pro, I could not send mail through an external server. I was able to receive mail through the same server. When I downgraded back to 31.7, I was again able to send and receive mail.

On trying to send mail, I got an Alert box that said:
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Administrative Prohibition. Please check the message and try again.

Download link for 38.1.0 on main page might be wrong?

The download link on https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/thunderbird_portable that points to https://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/ThunderbirdPortable_38.1.... doesn't seem to go anywhere. I initially thought it was due to script blocking addons in my FF install so I tried it in Google Chrome which doesn't run with any addons and it behaved the same.
