Trash ... with 3 empty search folders
Outbox ...empty

ZZZ folders ..empty should be about 30 sub folders

Where are all my folders and X times thousands emails?
How do I get them back

I use Thunderbird portable on my usb flash drive at uni and everywhere else. Privacy of email is absolutely important to protect against identity theft. Portable Thunderbird is a beautiful portable app with some really great features except for the one I need the most, and that is a password protection feature. Before accessing any emails, there needs to be a requirement to enter the correct password.

Installing Lightning to integrate Sunbird as a TB portable Add-on

Submitted by ka.aly on January 16, 2011 - 4:05pm

Hi

Thunderbird Portable is 3.0.6. I downloaded Lightning 1.0 from portableapps.com. When I tried installing as an add-on from TB's Tools menu, I get a an installation fail message advising that it is not compatible.

Can anyone advise what is the compatible Lightning version, and where to download. Actually.. Generically.. What is the URL to check compatibility of any protable app with any portale app add-on?

Many thanks,
ka

lost all my info

I started thunderbird this morning and none of my accounts or email showed up. I just upgrade to 3 and set up my email accounts again. How can I get the emails from thunderbird 2 into thunderbird 3? everything seems to work fine in 3 as far as sending and receiving goes, but all my emails from last year and all are not showing up. They are still in the directory J:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail. I would love to move all the messages from there into the new inboxes, etc. Can anyone help?

Suddenly "NO Disk " Error

Submitted by guy.chamberlain on January 11, 2011 - 12:13am

I have read something of similar problems but never a real solution - when I load TB and a couple of other apps, I get the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR81, options Cancel, Try Again or Continue. As I hit Cancel I get alternating messages which are similar referencing Harddisk5. This only happens on my home PC and only started recently - my work laptop and personal laptop do not do this. The common answer seems to be "live with it" but it is annoying and a lack of fix is irritating.

SMTP problem in Portable Thunderbird when using VNP-connection

Submitted by otto.hanninen on January 5, 2011 - 4:28am

My Thunderbird (3.1.7) works great - except for one thing:

when outside the office I have to use VPN to reach our mail server; works fine for incoming mail, but for some reason the outgoing mail SMTP-server cannot be accessed! We compared this with a stand alone installation of the same Thunderbird version and the SMTP-connection works for colleagues that use standalone version but not in the portable installation. Any ideas for the cause - and any solutions?

3.1.7 Rev 2 Issue : Unable to add more than one account

Submitted by Coswyn on December 30, 2010 - 8:27pm

I installed the app on a thumb drive and added my initial account, which worked fine. Then when I tried adding another it duplicated my original and seemed to tie it into it so that I was not able to get the changes I tried making to the settings to stick. I tried this multiple times (the assisted way and the manual way) and it kept duplicating the default account in place of the new one.

Anyone experiencing this? Any suggested solutions? Would I have been luck with the legacy version?

Thanks.

XUL Runner issue

Submitted by Paul Gauci on December 27, 2010 - 7:13am

I am the same person who wrote the https://portableapps.com/node/26023 entry.

The reason for my downloading TB 3.1.7 Rev2 was that my TB 3.1.4 gave this message when I tried to run it earlier today:

XUL Runner
Error: App: Name not specified in application.ini

As I retained TB 3.1.4 in a separate disk, I can use it instead of TB 3.1.7 Rev2, if someone helps me to resolve the above 'XUL Runner' issue.

Serious installation problem with TB 3.1.7 Rev2

Submitted by Paul Gauci on December 27, 2010 - 6:58am

I have just installed TB 3.1.7 Rev2. When I tried to run it I got this message:

Thunderbird could not install this item because "install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem.

I downloaded and installed again but I still got the same result.

What would the problem be please?

Paul
