Thunderbird won't launch (?)

Submitted by folivares on March 18, 2010 - 12:18am

Dear all,

I'm a noob; please be gentle.

I'm kind of new to portable apps and decided to give them a try. Installed Thunderbird Portable 3 in my pen drive and though it launches, syncs with Gmail and what not in the first attempt, after a second time it just won't launch.

Kindly note that I am running Windows 7. For some reason after I deleted the Thunderbird Portable folder (with my data included) and reinstall/sync everything it works... once. If I exit and attempt to launch it just won't start.

I am not sure if anyone else has this or just me, but when I am clicked on a message header, the text turns white, which on the grey or white background, was funky.

I am guessing it is related to the theme, but I tried it in the default and it still was like that.

Anybody know where in the user config I would change the text colour, or to not have it change?

TB3 Losing Emails

Submitted by sirbanks on March 2, 2010 - 4:50am

OK, I noticed this some time ago but thought I had done something wrong. Now just watched it happen and it was not me. Sometimes my emails are disappearing, not all emails just some of them. It appears that the entire 'thread' of emails from a sender will be deleted also, including any responses I may have sent. It appears to be happening when the folders are compacted. I compact at least once per day. Today I had received an email that I had not yet opened. When prompted to compact, I did, and then the email was gone, nowhere to be found.

Thunderbird Leaving Traces Behind

Submitted by usbtastic on February 28, 2010 - 5:40pm

I'm finding that Thunderbird Portable 3.0.2 is creating and leaving behind a directory behind after it is closed: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Crash Reports

Sometimes it leaves a text file named InstallTime20100216161403 which contains a numeric string.

This happens in Vista 32bit and Win 7 32bit.

Anyone else seen this?

Troubles with google calender under TB 3.01

Submitted by coocoon on February 24, 2010 - 9:45pm

I used the Provider for Google Calendar in TB3.0.1 portable to sync my google calendar.
It's work fine at home pc which I set the google calendar's username/password first, but if I run the TB3.01 in others computers, The TB can't link to the carlendar, it always request the google calendar's username/password.

I try to delete the calendars and reset them again in others PC, I check the "saved passwords", and there is not save the google calendar password still.

Why? Please help me.

Troubles with TB 3.01 under Linux/Wine

Submitted by darkstar on February 23, 2010 - 3:52pm

Just did an upgrade of my entire Portable Apps Suite and have ran into troubles using Thunderbird under SuSE11.2 Linux / wine. Seems ok under Windows Vista. Under Linux, emails are only partially viewable. Any previous replys will show, but new content does not appear. just white space. Highlighting and doing a copy paste does move content into the clipboard so I know the content of the email is there. Also can see it if I view the source. But it does not display.

Master Password Required after update

Submitted by Tickie6 on February 22, 2010 - 1:59pm

Master password required to use 3 after update.

I tried to remove my master password with this from Thunderbirds website.

Thunderbird 2 and above: Choose Tools – Error Console, paste the expression: openDialog("chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul") and press the Evaluate button. That will open a dialog asking you if you want to reset your password.

Problem, Thunderbird errors out I click "OK" to remove the master password. Then when I restart all the old passwords are still there.

Is there a diff way to do it with the portable apps...?

Thanks
