Thunderbird Portable

mails are in the folder but not appearing on TBP

Submitted by g.beck on September 28, 2008 - 8:49pm

Hi.
I'm just fiddling about with my ThunderbirdPortable and I looked into the files in my "Data\profile\Mail\Local Folders". There are the small .msf files and bigger files wwith the same name. I already learned that the .msf files contain TB's information about the mails in the bigger files. In some of the bigger files I can read old emails I already deleted and I'd like to delete them completely because they need pretty much storage space.

syncing TBP with TB

Submitted by marcolav on September 28, 2008 - 12:44pm

Hello everybody

I just installed TB on a new laptop and want to keep it in sync with my TBP, however it seems TB is ignoring the data I keep copying over.
no matter what i do , TB always starts from scratch, ignoring the profile with all the mail and data.
I have tried starting TB, then moving all the files into the newly created ******.default folder. I have tried creating a new folder and edited the profiles.ini file accordingly, however the only thing that has been updated are the addons

Any suggestions anybody?

thank you

Marco

Where do I place my user.js file?

Submitted by Huuuze on September 26, 2008 - 4:03pm

I have a user.js file that I place in my non-PortableApp Thunderbird profile directory. When I run the PortableApp version of Thunderbird, I place that same file in:

C:\ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird\defaults\profile

Unfortunately, the changes detailed in my user.js do not appear in the PortableApp ThunderBird. Does this version of Thunderbird not support user.js files?

Auto-updating w/out local installation

So, I've searched the forums for information about TBP's auto-update feature and if I understand this right, if you try to update TBP via the auto-update feature, all of the registry values get set to point to the portable version. However, is this really a problem if I don't have a local version installed? Shouldn't the portableapps launcher clean up the registry when it's done anyway?

Webmail Extension for reading Yahoo! Mail, etc.

Submitted by arizona480 on September 13, 2008 - 5:17pm

I can't get any of these to work with my mom's yahoo account...

I've tried Ypops, I know its doing something, because when I use a wrong password it gives me an error, when I use the correct password, no error.

The webmail extension along with the yahoo extension will say it's downloading messages 1-99, but then it keeps timing out. This is on different computers with all firewalls and other obstructions disabled, any ideas? I'm thinking of just paying the $20 for the year to do it normally.

Profile not visible when running from DVD

Submitted by boardwize on September 12, 2008 - 12:36pm

Hi,
I'm trying to burn thunderbird to DVD along with my profile as a backup of my email that I can easily view in the future.

I've included the Thunderbirdportable.ini file as suggested on the help pages, but for some reason, when the RunLocally flag is set to true, my profile disappears and Thunderbird insists on creating a new one.

If this flag is set to false, I get a write error (as expected when running from a DVD) but I can see my folders within my profile, unfortunately thunderbird then hangs when trying to view the contents.
Any ideas?

Passwords missing

Submitted by tradeinthailand on September 9, 2008 - 8:09pm

I have seen others post about this problem but have not seen a solution.
Often when TB goes to check mail the p/w entry box is shown and although, often, has a p/w in it with the remember check box unchecked.

Is there any solution to this?

Thanks

Chris
