Restrict Thunderbird access

Submitted by nicolleen on September 9, 2008 - 5:58am

Hi,

the usual question, how to password protect certain files, folders or programmes.

There is a possibility to password protect the message pane with IMAP accounts in Thunderbird, but anybody, who finds my USB stick will nevertheless be able to see all server settings (except for the passwords) and all pop3 account stored emails.

Is there a possibility or some idea how to restrict the whole access to thunderbird? I also tried to encrypt the .exe file itself, but it didn't work when I wanted to use it and decrypted it, it was probably another location it got decrypted to.

Forward/Reply Editing HTML Email

Submitted by DenShaw on September 8, 2008 - 12:36pm

2.0.0.16.WINXP PRO

Received HTML Email looks fine. The reply/forward document looks like a document brought up in web page design software and really is hard to edit the document; somethings being impossible to change without ruining the whole document.

Same problem occurs when copying/pasting an Emailinto Word.

To satisfy my needs I must save any photos, copy text into notepad striping HTML, then recreate a new document in Thunderbird.

Is there a work-around for this difficulty?

Windows XP's Error Report notification

Submitted by ChuckT on September 6, 2008 - 11:50am

The U3 application was working fine for months, then all of a sudden every time I try to start Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 from ScanDisk I get windows Error Report notification window and thunderbird shuts down. I take the ScanDisk to another computer and it works fine. Tells me that one computer is ok and the other one has a problem. Anyone might know what that problem is and how to fix it?

A Real puzzler...

Wheels Coming Off PortableApps Thunderbird

Issue list is three problems and growing...

Empty Trash Folder
First sign of trouble was the Empty Trash Folder Problem reported February 25, 2008. There is no solution, so I've been living with it ever since.

Change Account Settings
Second problem presented itself in July 2008. TB will not allow me to change any account settings. Actually I can change anything, but the OK button does nothing, and the only way out is to CANCEL. This sucks.

Thunderbird and RSS

Submitted by sisyphusnz on August 24, 2008 - 5:47pm

Most times when I click a subscribe rss link in a website, it sends me to a feedburner website, with a plethora of options for rss readers of all types. One option is also "Universal Subscription Mechanism"...

To many options, and I've had mixed results; what do I click on, or copy and paste, to subscribe the rss with my thunderbird program from the feedburner website?
