SLOW TBP

Submitted by darylu on December 4, 2006 - 7:51am

I'm trying to figure out why my TBP is so slow. I thought it was just a dying, old XP set up. So, I've reinstalled XP completely on a new 160GB IDE 7200 RPM drive, did all express updates and SP2. I am running a Biostar M7VIQ from this millennium (early, though), with 1.256 GB RAM, AMD Athalon 1.67 GHZ processor. I have an AGP Biostar video card with 256MB RAM.

I have current McAfee software kept updated through a university package.

After all that, I copied over my files and retried TBP. It works about the same. I use TBP on my desktop rather than TB because I'm hoping to make it portable.

Repy Emails

Submitted by nologos on December 2, 2006 - 11:26am

When I send reply emails, the text is UNDER the previous message. How do I change this to put my return message on the top of the reply. I looked around in preferences and could not find anything.

Thanks, sam.

Unable to get download link to start

Submitted by Tailwind on December 1, 2006 - 4:42pm

I have tried every thing I know how do do in order to download the Portable TB application. All without success. I got a page not found at SourceForge. Several times I got an indication that the page was loading; but when I got the "Done" message; there was no download page nor had any download appeared to have tried to begin.

Any suggestions?

Links don't work

Submitted by kiwichick on December 1, 2006 - 3:41pm

Hi there, I have installed TBPortable as part of the Suite. When I click a link in a message nothing happens and I have to copy and paste the link into my browser. I have had TBPortable installed independently for quite a while and have never had this problem. I also copied my previous profile into the suite application so if linking is part of my prefs it should be all good, shouldn't it? Any suggestions?

webmail with TB 1.5.08

Submitted by rustyriley on November 30, 2006 - 6:21pm

Hi, sorry if this question has been posted previously, been checked with 6 screens and not there, so:
trying to set up TB latest version (haven't used it before) with webmail.
when i try to do this, get error message back:
"Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server localhost responded: undefined is a unsupported domain"

this is obviously a setup problem, but there's no guidelines to follow as to how to set it up. not using it on local network, just wish to use it with yahoo, gmail, mail.com and hotmail.

Tips anyone, please?

Speeding up Thunderbird Portable

Submitted by rms2000 on November 28, 2006 - 5:24pm

Does anyone have any suggestions for speeding up Thunderbird Portable when running off of a USB flash drive? Right now, it takes about 3 seconds to delete an email message which is far too slow. An email message should take no time to delete. I'm running Thunderbird Portable on a year old Sony Vaio laptop which is equiped with XP Pro and USB 2.0 ports. My flash drive is also USB 2.0.
