All of the messages I receive in Japanese are corrupted. Is there any way to remedy this?
I have moved completly to Thunderbird portable on my USB 2 GB device.
I got tired of synchronizing my email on the several computers I use daily.
I use email to keep track of several independent concurrent projects.
One folder per project.
My email folders are getting a bit too crowded.
I would like to be able to store away folders of closed projects in order to free up space and speed up Thunderbird, but still be able to read them from time to time.
Any Ideas ?
Hi,
Since yesterday, whenever I double click to open a message in inbox it opens a "compose" window similar (but not quite) to the one you would get if you selected "reply".
If I right click on the message in inbox and select "open message in new folder" it behaves normally. Other folders seem OK, this is only a problem with inbox.
I've installed a new version of Thunderbird portable and copied my profile to it, no change so it appears to be a problem embedded in my profile.
I've emptied the inbox and deleted the inbox and inbox.msf files, no change.
Thunderbird 2 alpha 1 dont works with following extensions> _un_read-0.4-tb.xpi; birthday_reminder-0.50-tb.xpi; compactfolder-0.0.6-mz+tb.xpi; contacts_sidebar-0.6-tb.xpi; image_zoom-0.2.7-fx+fl+mz+ns+zm+tb.xpi; restart_thunderbird-0.9-tb.xpi; stacked_view_extension-1.0.3-tb.xpi; translation_panel-1.4.13.0.1-fx+mz.xpi... and probably more.. but these are quite interesting and useful...

Hello there,
First, allow me to thank John for his tireless efforts bringing portable software to our computers.
I arrived at work this morning, opened Thunderbird (Portable) and was delighted to see the automatic update notification for v1.5.0.8. The partial update downloaded and prompted me to restart the programme, yet upon doing so I was informed that the partial update had failed.
Thunderbird proceeded to download the full update, however upon restarting the version number still reads 1.5.0.8.
Is this a known issue? I recall that previous versions of TB/FF would not update successfully, due to the removal of the 'Uninstall' program from the Update folder - is this still the case?

Manual update of Firefox (Thunderbird):
0. Close Firefox (Thunderbird) Portable
1. Create a subfolder firefox-update (thunderbird-update) in a folder where application is installed
2. Download appropriate .mar file (from any ftp mirror under e.g. /pub/mozilla/thunderbird/1.5.0.8/update/win32/en-US7)
3. Copy the updater.exe file from application folder to firefox-update (thunderbird-update) subfolder
3a. Also copy updater.ini from application folder to firefox-update (thunderbird-update) subfolder
4. Copy the mar file to the folder created in step 1 and change its name to update.mar
Portable Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 hasn't even officially been released and mozilla has already released Thunderbird 1.5.0.8. Maybe John T. Haller needs to look at recruiting some help to get things moving faster.
