Thunderbird portable on a portable hard drive has been working fine for 2 months. Now it will not start up.
Thunderbird v45.1.1
Windows 10 Pro
Hi:
Recently Thunderbird v45.1.1 began showing the quick filter toolbar and the message preview pane on the first start after windows is started.
I would uncheck to show quick filter toolbar option and also uncheck to show message preview, then exited thunderbird. Without restarting windows 10, I would start thunderbird again and thunderbird would keep the settings for not showing the quick filter toolbar and message preview pane.
Lately, everytime TBP asks if I want to compact my my folders, and I click OK to start the process, it comes back a few moments later with the message "Some folder (e.g. 'Inbox') cannot be compacted because there is not enough disk space. Please delete some files and try again."
I have 29.1GB free on my USB drive. What more do I have to delete to allow the compact to succeed?
Hi,
I recently upgraded from Thunderbird 38 portable to Thunderbird 45.1.1 portable.
Now it is no longer automatically marking the message as read after they are open.
The settings at OPTIONS -> DISPLAY -> ADVANCED ->
"Automatically mark messages as read" is properly set.
I tried different settings, like "Immediately on display" and "After displaying for X seconds".
No X-out on my tabs..The "X" is light in color as though it's unavailable... I wiped folder and brought back up. Still NG. Anyone else experiencing this?
Hi folks,
aside to the portable version of Thunderbird I use a normal installed one. All my data are stored on a different hard disc than the system and program files. In prior installations I moved the whole AppData directory to the other disc and created a link like mklink /j AppData d:/AppData
.
Since Windows 10 this is no longer recommended. Microsoft stated that Windows can't be updated when the AppData is moved and other users have had bad experience with this.
The latest version, 38.7.2, is not what is requested through the download link on the PA page for Thunderbird. It is still coded for 38.7.1 and is labeled that way on the page. I was able to get 38.7.2 by copying the link and editing the 38.7.1 to 38.7.2 in it.
There are a lot of references in the profile folder to the current folder.
First there is ThunderbirdPortableSettings.ini with LastProfileDirectory. This looks ok.
But there are also references in files in the profile folder like
panacea.dat
compatibility.ini
extensions.ini
prefs.js
extensions.json
search.json
When I have everything on a stick and put it into another computer, all messages get downloaded again.
When it's the same drive and path, everything is fine.
Tried to use ThunderbirdPortable2ndProfile but does not seem to be set up to use the GPG Plugin. Couldn't find GPG and when given path it creates the keyrings and other files under Application Data\gnupg. When exit Thunderbird the gpg-agent.exe and gpg2.exe are left running. On exit the keyrings are left in Application Data\gnupg. Can this problem be verified?
I have not checked but SeamonkeyPortable2ndProfile may have the same problem.
Hi !!!
TB Portable Edition say that my USB is a read-only location. If I try to write, delete, make directories etc, I don't have any problem, only TB say it
