Thunderbird Portable

make 2.0.04 portable?

Submitted by wanderer on August 11, 2016 - 10:28am

Hi!
Currently using Outlook Express under XP; being obliged to change OS, I am thinking to use Thunderbird; two needs:

1. I have all my OE mail (folders / account/ etc) in an encrypted file I carry on my keyring-attached USB drive, so I can use all of my mail at home, office, everywhere...

2. I only like Thunderbird 2.0.0.4; (tried newer version and didn't like them).

How can I make the same life with Thunderbird?

Thanks everyone Smile

Thunderbird 45.2.0 Constantly Crashing

Submitted by NotMine on July 23, 2016 - 9:06am

I have Thunderbird 45.2.0 Portable Apps version installed on a USB2 device that contains a SSD drive.

I run Kaspersky A-V on Windows 7, both fully updated. I have no plans to install Windows 10...ever.

When I load Thunderbird off the PortableApps Launcher or even by directly executing the "portable" wrapper exe, the program starts to consume memory...and eventually lots of it.

Thunderbird portable crashing

Submitted by garryparry on July 3, 2016 - 5:09am

Having been a long standing fan of Portable apps and Portable Thunderbird, I now find that it is crashing all the time.
It is the latest version (sorry, can't fell you which one it is since it is freezing shortly on loading).
I admit, the overall size of the application has increased to 4 GB since I move all the IMAP folders into a local Thunderbird folder that serves as my 'store' of emails on my SD card (leaving my IMAP email with more space).
I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Besides, am I right in reading that Mozilla have now discontinued support to TB?

Subfolders don't appear in subscribe dialogue box

Submitted by PetersT on June 22, 2016 - 7:57am

I have an online Office365 email account that I added to TBP using IMAP protocol. It has mostly been working fine. However, I've now run into an issue where email subfolders I've created through the online/web client do not appear within the TBP Subscribe dialogue. I've tried clicking the Refresh button on that window, but the subfolders still do not appear. Note that these are second level subfolders under the main account (i.e. My_Account\Folder\Level_1_Subfolder\Level_2_Subfolder), if that has any bearing.

Thunderbird Enables Quick Filter Toolbar and Message Preview When Starting

Thunderbird v45.1.1
Windows 10 Pro

Hi:

Recently Thunderbird v45.1.1 began showing the quick filter toolbar and the message preview pane on the first start after windows is started.

I would uncheck to show quick filter toolbar option and also uncheck to show message preview, then exited thunderbird. Without restarting windows 10, I would start thunderbird again and thunderbird would keep the settings for not showing the quick filter toolbar and message preview pane.

Compact folders fails

Submitted by PetersT on June 6, 2016 - 7:10am

Lately, everytime TBP asks if I want to compact my my folders, and I click OK to start the process, it comes back a few moments later with the message "Some folder (e.g. 'Inbox') cannot be compacted because there is not enough disk space. Please delete some files and try again."

I have 29.1GB free on my USB drive. What more do I have to delete to allow the compact to succeed?

Thunderbir 45.1.1 does NOT marking messages as read

Submitted by sukhoi47 on June 2, 2016 - 7:26pm

Hi,

I recently upgraded from Thunderbird 38 portable to Thunderbird 45.1.1 portable.

Now it is no longer automatically marking the message as read after they are open.

The settings at OPTIONS -> DISPLAY -> ADVANCED ->
"Automatically mark messages as read" is properly set.
I tried different settings, like "Immediately on display" and "After displaying for X seconds".
