can't read old emails (Tbird portable not finding my profile)

Submitted by bangbang on March 22, 2023 - 5:50pm

Hello
I'm running Tbird portable on a usb drive with Windows. It was working fine until recently - but now when I open it, it asks me to create a new profile & I can't figure out how to direct it back to the original profile (I've tried the -profile "path" command line argument but I still get the same request to create a profile) - how can I get it to access my old emails again?
Thanks!

Keep getting notifications for 102.8.0 update even though I'm already running this version.

Has anyone else started getting spurious new update notifications for 102.8.0 even though they're already running this version?

I'm not sure if this is a general Thunderbird problem or something specific to the portable version. I'm leaning towards it being an issue with Thunderbird itself but wanted some advice before I open a ticket with Mozilla.

Thanks in advance.

[Closed] Favorite folders not saved when moving to new PC

Submitted by Alexander230 on March 2, 2023 - 6:23am

There is a bug that strongly breaks usability: when I move Thunderbird Portable to another PC, it doesn't remember which folders has "Favorite" mark. Also, I have "Favorite" option set in View - Folders menu, but it resets to "All" on another PC. Some folders occasionally lost Favorite mark even when I move Thunderbird folder within 1 PC.

Problem with migration from Enigmail (TB 68 to 78)

Submitted by Elsee on January 31, 2023 - 10:18pm

Hello, I am asking for help with Enigmail migration. I guess the legacy version 78 is required to port the keys from Enigmail to the new PGP format. But I can't find this version anywhere. If I take version 91 directly and try to import my private key, I get an error message even though the key is correct.

Is this the correct forums to post this question? I've also posted it under General Forums --General Discussion

I've been running Thunderbird Portable Edition from a USB flash drive for about three years. Today, when I tried to start the app, I received the following error message text box:

Disable SplashScreen for ThunderbirdPortable via the INI file

Submitted by AbsolutelyRandom on November 6, 2022 - 2:19pm

Is it safe to simply create an INI file named ThunderbirdPortable.ini, place it next to ThunderbirdPortable.exe and include just one line:
DisableSplashScreen=true
Or maybe it is required to copy the whole content of ThunderbirdPortable.ini from "Other\Source"? I would like to know what I'm doing so I don't ruin the app's portability.

Migrating a profile from an old TB portable installation to the most recent PortableApps including TB

I have a backup copy from June of a TB portable installation I recently lost. I installed PortableApps, including TB portable, afresh from a download on Sep. 14. 2022 on a USB stick. It would be great to transfer all the account information, passwords, etc., plus a history of e-mails from the last 10 years. What has happened since June is still in my IMAP account and will hopefully be available after reconnection.

Thunderbird update, working and not working

Submitted by cbaxterm on August 25, 2022 - 1:26pm

I am using Thunderbird Portable as stand-alone installed on hard disk.

For years I have updated on the Help/About Mozilla Thunderbird page. Today I noticed that I was on version 91.1.x and the button said [Update to 91.1.y]. The thing is that I knew the current version was v102, meaning that the updater on the "About Mozilla Thunderbird" page was not working, or was only offering to update to a minor version that was still months out of date.
