Thunderbird Portable

message pane

Submitted by New_One on June 28, 2010 - 2:35pm

When I start TB 3.x and do not select a message I get a start page (Welcome to Thunderbird....).
Is the a way for TB to show me the last message I read when I open it?
Thanks a lot for helping!

Question on Thunderbird2ndProfile, location of profile

Submitted by HarryR on June 25, 2010 - 7:07am

As part of a big exercise in trying to figure out a totally portable installation that can also be used on my local hard drive, I am trying to get TBird and FFox to use profiles in a different branch of the directory tree. So, for example :

Program is in C:\My\Apps\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\
Data is in C:\My\Docs\Current\Thunderbird\

The _relative_ position of these folders will always be the same.

Is it possible to use Thunderbird2ndProfile to make ThunderbirdPortable look for its profile in somewhere like ..\..\..\Docs\Current\Thunderbird ?

Recover Deleted Emails

Submitted by deus.nz on June 24, 2010 - 5:22pm

I have come across several articles on how I can recover deleted emails however none of them seem to work seeing that the INBOX file does not appear to be that large and none of the emails are in the INBOX file i.e. none even those I have not deleted. I am using IMAP to access my emails and am in an urgent need to retrieve the emails I had deleted.

Hello, I recently switched vom TB 2.x to 3.0x.

I use IMAP, the inbox-file in TB 2 was approx. 1. mb big, the new one is over 50 mb.

How do I undo the change?

Thanks a lot for your help!

upgrading to TB 3.0.5 - will Enigmail/GnuPG stay?

Submitted by Peter22 on June 20, 2010 - 9:04am

Hi,
I got the notification of TB that an update is available. I know I shouldn´t use the inside-TB-option and instead download the new version from PA.com and install it right over the old one, but will my enigmail/GnuPG extensions stay unharmed or do I need to insttall them over the program again like the firt time?

Thanks
Peter

Hotmail SMTP with TB

Submitted by Frank1 on June 20, 2010 - 1:16am

Helo
I have 2 Windows XP SP3 machines setup with Portable TB V2.0.0.23. This includes different Hotmail accounts on the 2 computers.
On one computer I can send mail with the Hotmail SMTP but the other refuses. I set the accounts up in an identical way (except the username and passwords, of course). I setup the Avast virus checkers the same and the firewalls the same.

Exporting a Single Message in Thunderbird 3.x

Submitted by cwerner on June 19, 2010 - 1:02pm

Greetings to the forum.

I would like to take a single message received, say, during a Thunderbird Portable session and export it to the Thunderbird setup on my hard drive so that it appears as one of the messages on the hard drive version. In the past, I have forwarded such messages to myself, but obviously, the header integrity has been lost. Can this feat be accomplished?

Thank you for all help.

Craig
