TBird Portable as storage for profile on a "regular" installation of TBird

Submitted by fbachofner on August 11, 2010 - 7:19pm

My Mom has been using TBird portable for some time with great success.

I recently built her a Linux based machine for her use at home and this has limited her use of TBird portable at home (as Portable Apps is Win32 -- and we prefer NOT to use WINE).

Are there any problems with installing TBird (same version number as on Portable Apps, obviously) on the Linux machine and then pointing the profile on that Linux-installed version at the profile folder on the Portable Apps device?

Not Respounding status

Submitted by Kally on August 10, 2010 - 10:24am

Since I have downloaded 3.1.2 I occassionally get a "Not Responding" message in my status bar, especially when I have an attachment. The only way to get out of this is to shut down and restart Thunderbird but then I lose the message I was trying to send.

I will try going down one version since I didn't have this before but just wondering if this is normal or is something the matter. Anyone else having this issue???

Thanks.

TypeError: str is undefined

Submitted by Esgrimidor on August 8, 2010 - 7:17pm

I have observed this windows happen while downloading from a msn.com account.

[JavaScript Application]
TypeError : str is undefined

the downloading is very slow.

In general :
gmail and hotmail accounts don't go well. Seem dowload only a few emails .
By example : today 08.09.2010 download four emails from the date 08.02.2010 .
And I see all emails are not download.

I have multiple filters defined for these accounts.

I suppose I need to reconstruct my profile or try to repair step by step.

What can i do ?

When I enter in TB3 I obtain this window message :

Password Required :

Please, introduce the master password for Disp. security software

I know the password and can enter, but I would like to know how to take off that password asking at the beginning.

Best Regards.

unable to download mail from gmail

Submitted by d_byrnes on August 6, 2010 - 5:57pm

Today, before downloading my mail, I upgraded to TB 3.1.2. I'm using the PA Apps Platform 2.0 Beta, so I used the Update function. After updating, I cannot access my Gmail account. Now, I'm not sure if it's a TB issue, a Gmail issue. or what. As soon as TB loaded, a window at the bottom of the screen came up saying "Failed to connect to server pop.googlemail.com". I ping the server and get no response, though googlemail.com DOES respond. This is the same configuration I've used for over a year. I checked Gmail's settings page, where it indicates the correct server is pop.gmail.com.

TB 3.1.1 "What's New" Tab

Submitted by bouw2558 on August 2, 2010 - 11:29pm

Hi
Have just updated to 3.1.1.
This maybe a silly question, but how do I stop the "What's New" tab from opening every time I start it.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Thanks in advance

Just Updated to 3.1.2 same thing happening. If I don't shut the tab, the next time I open it 2 tabs open, and so on.
Will probably go back to 3.0.6 if no one has an answer.

Thanks

Thunderbird Downloading entire Yahoo Inbox

Submitted by KiwiKay on August 2, 2010 - 6:09pm

Something's happened, and I don't know whether to problem lies with Thunderbird or Yahoo, but I've been using this app for a long time (now have v. 3.1.1) and when I go to download my current mail, it starts to download all of it (over 20,000 msgs). I kept restarting app and computer, etc, and emailed Yahoo for support (no reply after a week). Finally I just let it download since I couldn't get to my recent mail before the oldest was downloaded). I can't simply access yahoo online because I need use of my templates, etc that I've setup in Thunderbird.

Import gives multiple copies of inbox

Submitted by SteveSimmons on July 30, 2010 - 8:52am

I've just started out with PortableApps (great idea and great software btw) but I've hit a problem with Thunderbird. I have a substantial Profile folder (lots of mails) from my 'full-fat' thunderbird installation and wanted to import that into Thunderbird Portable. I seem to have imported it OK in so far as the mails are in place and the accounts seem to have come across OK but I am seeing multiple (eight) 'Inbox' folders. If I click on any of them, I see the same content (i.e. my received mails!).
