Cannot load any OpenOffice apps

Submitted by tbok on November 30, 2006 - 11:57am

I have installed the full portable apps suite in the root of a 1Gb USB drive, and Firefox and Sunbird both work OK, but I get nothing at all from any of the OO apps. I have tried to monitor what happens via Process Explorer (from Sysinternals) but all I can see is that the process starts, then crashrep runs, then it all shuts down.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong, or how I might diagnose the problem?

Thanks.

openoffice option causes crash

I am playing with the new suite and am quite impressed. When i went to try openoffice writer though I was overwhelmed by the number of tool bars, with no easy way to remove them so I started digging into the settings. I found that when I went into view>toolbars>customize and then clicked on the keyboard tab in the resulting window, openoffice would crash, doing a document recovery before restarting itself. Not sure what is causing this bug or if it occurs for nayone else. Thanks Andrew

explorer crashes

I have the following problem:

I'm usin OO Portable on Windows XP, on the school's network (Novell clients). Sometimes when I start OO - I'd say about one out of two times - the explorer crashes ( not IE, the file explorer), restarts, after a few seconds crashes again, reastarts, and so on. Really annoying!
Now, I know that the bug is in explorer, but maybe somebody knows of a way to avoid this crashes?

Writer won't launch

Submitted by timtranslates on November 24, 2006 - 5:59pm

I can't launch writer. I had it in the directory set by the suite, and it wouldn't load. So I moved it out of PortableApps and into the root directory, and it still won't load. If I push CTRL_ALT_DEL it shows up in the processes. I use WindowsXP. I have it installed on a portable hard drive. Anyone know how to solve this?

starting openoffice.org portable

Submitted by caroline on November 24, 2006 - 11:22am

Can anyone help me? How do I start openoffice.org portable step by step? I brought a 512MB USB flash drive to install it. I have a Windows XP so when I plug my USB in, it said my USB was installed. Now when I went to click Download Openoffice.orq Portable it took me to a site where I had to choose a mirror. Is this correct and which mirror do I pick? When I pick the mirror, do I save it or run it? Where do I go from here? Thanks for anyone who helps!
