After the discovery of ClamWin leaving files, I tested all the other apps and found the same problem in OOPortable.
This time its:
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\[username]\Lokale Einstellungen\Temp\nsy32.tmp\newadvsplash.dll
Is there any pattern newadsplash.dll uses to name these temp folders?

EDIT
Audacity also creates a folder:
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\[username]\Lokale Einstellungen\Temp\audacity_1_2_temp\
when Ii launch a fresh copy for the first time.
In addition to that, it creates the newadsplash.dll folder and an

Open Office in Portable Apps Menu

Submitted by AndySmith on February 15, 2007 - 11:21am

I have six Open Office menu options in the Portable Apps menu: Base, Draw, Math, Writer, Calc and Impress. In my Portable Apps/OpenOfficePortable folder I have seven exe files; one for each of the above plus one that simply launches the Open Office application.

I have removed the six apps from the Portable Apps menu by renaming .exe to .ex_, but I can't get the PortableApps menu to acknowledge the OpenOfficePortable.exe application.

Can it be done? If so, how?

Open processes

Whenever I use OOo/Portable from a USB flash drive, it leaves several processes open that keep Windows from giving me permission to pull the drive. It seems to happen on either of two different USB drives I use. Is there a known cause or fix? (Don't know if it matters, but I do not have OOo installed on the host where this happens.)

A question about temporary files

Submitted by Loui5 on January 31, 2007 - 4:12pm

I understand that MS Office creates temporary files when it opens spreadsheets, Word documents etc. and these could be left on the hard disk after closing MS Office.

If I open an MS Office document or spreadsheet using Portable OOo and the file being opened is on a USB memory stick, would there be any temporary files left somewhere on the host computer?

converting files back to OO files

I use Open Office for all my correspondence which is about 20 letters a day. I have been saving them to my U3 cruzer until I have about a weeks work then move them to a CD and delete the copies from my cruzer. Last Thursday I needed to review one of my letters and tried to down load it from the CD, I accidently clicked on the fire fox button and all the files on the CD immediately changed their icon to the firefox icon and now I can not open any of the files on that particular CD.

Cannot load OpenOffice on U3 key

Hello. I have been trying to load Open Office on my 1GB U3 key. I go on the PortableApps.com site, download OpenOffice to my PC as OpenOffice_Portable 2.0.4 en-us.paf.exe, then try to execute it. As target, I give Drive F, i.e. my U3 key. Then I get a long list of error messages, such as "can not open output file F:\OpenOfficePortable\openoffice\help...

I am probably doing something very stupid !

Can someone help me ? Without an office system, this U3 key is rather useless

Thanks a lot.
