OpenOfficePortable 2.03 won't open spreadsheet files from command line

Submitted by planetthoughtful on September 21, 2006 - 4:02am

Hi,

This new version of OpenOfficePortable seems to 'break' the ability to open OOo files from the command line? I only ask / noticed this because I use SlickRun to launch an OOo spreadsheet each day that I use as my work timesheet, and if I point it at the version for 2.02 (back when it was still PortableOpenOffice) it works, but pointing it at version 2.03 (ie OpenOfficePortable) simply opens a black spreadsheet, ignoring the filename as an open parameter.

Also, from a DOS prompt, the following works "\PortableOpenOffice\PortableOpenOfficeCalc.exe timesheet.ods", but this doesn't: "\OpenOfficePortable\OpenOfficeCalcPortable.exe timesheet.ods" (ie, it opens a blank spreadsheet instead of timesheet.ods). By the way, in case it isn't obvious, I have the Portable version of OOo 2.02 in \PortableOpenOffice, and the Portable version of OOo 2.03 in \OpenOfficePortable.

OOo Impress portable bug?

Submitted by EOBeav on September 12, 2006 - 7:45pm

Is there a bug of some kind in the Impress part of portable OOo? I can get everything else to work just fine, just not Impress. It tries to open up a new document, then freezes up and gives me a general error message. I'm running this from an iPod, and I've been using OOo on it for the last several weeks with no problems until this point. I will try reinstalling Portable OOo and see what that does, if anything.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Not all tooltips are shown

Submitted by Loui5 on September 8, 2006 - 8:25am

In the new version of Portable Openoffice (2.0.3) not all tooltips are shown. For example, when you open the Format-->Page dialog, then tooltips should appear when you move the mouse over various parts of the dialog. This doesn't happen with the new portable version. I relied a lot on those tooltips, because it saved me time instead of having to open the Help file. Please, can something be done about it?

Portable Fonts in OpenOffice.org Portable 2.0.3

Submitted by ifoobar710 on September 8, 2006 - 12:21am

When I was using Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.2, I followed the advice given in the link below in order to use truetype fonts not installed in the PC.

https://portableapps.com/node/814

So, in OpenOffice.org Portable 2.0.3, I copied the same fonts in the closest directory I could find, which was the following:

2.0.3 - \OpenOfficePortable\App\openoffice\share\fonts\truetype
(note: compare to 2.0.2 - \PortableOpenOffice\openoffice\share\fonts\truetype)

Corrupted Data Message?

Submitted by piersden on September 7, 2006 - 1:28pm

Had/have OpenOffice Portable 2.02 on a secondary/slave drive on my CPU; installed 2.03 but when I open it I get following error message:

Configuration data in E:/Documents & Settings/myname/PortableOpenOffice/OpenOfficePortable/App/openoffice/share/uno_packages/cache/registry/com.sun.star.comp.deployment.configuration.PackageRegistryBackend/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI/StartModuleWindowState.xcu' is corrupted. Without this data some functions may not operate correctly. Do you want to continue startup of OpenOffice.org without the corrupted configuration data? Yes/No?

Regardless of whether I click Yes or No, the program starts and appears to be running but my question is what's wrong? I tried deleting 2.02 but that didn't help. Restored it and left it while reinstalling 2.03 but that didn't help. Any suggestions? E drive is my "old C" drive which I use as a slave/backup. Incidentally, 2.03 seems to work without this problem on an external hard drive.
