Package Management

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 13, 2006 - 9:16am

Hi,
I'm trying to install "LanguageTool" a package for OpenOffice 2. This are the instructions from the web site:
In OpenOffice.org (only OpenOffice.org 2.0 has been tested): Do not unzip the archive, just call Tools -> Package Manager -> Add... to install LanguageTool-0.8.1.zip. Open a new window of OpenOffice.org (Ctrl-N) and you'll see a new menu entry "LanguageTool" that will check the current text.

However, in portable OpenOffice, the installation never occurred and now, when I try to add the package the OpenOffice just close.

Any ideas ?

Remove OOo Easter Eggs?

Submitted by ace_dent on February 10, 2006 - 9:04am

There is currently a discussion over at oooforums [here], whether to remove the hidden Easter Eggs from OpenOffice. Since I use a portable version I would like to see them gone to save some disk space. Please add your Votes and comments on the oooforum, to see if this issue can be resolved.

Regards,
Andrew

PortableApps vs. U3

Submitted by wsm23 on February 10, 2006 - 8:39am

I have downloaded the Portable OpenOffice.org from your site here. I used thie one becuase the U3 version seemed to be 3 times a large.

The U3 version of FF seems to run faster. Is there any advantage to using either version?

OO - strange behaviour - file saves fine, but does not show up on desktop

Submitted by stream on February 7, 2006 - 3:45pm

Reformatted computer moved portable app suite to computer. Open Office opens fine and seems to save just fine but no files show up on Windows XP. All settings in folder options are set to view all files, system files, and extensions.

The files can be viewed and opened if I open them from with in openoffice.

It is almost as if XP does not want to display the files.

Any ideas?

OpenOffice.org Math Symbols

Submitted by mholsonproject on February 6, 2006 - 6:40pm

I am very interested in the concept of Portable OpenOffice.org for my math lectures. Portable OpenOffice.org Math is not displaying symbols properly when I go to insert the Math object into a document or presentation. For example, in the place of parentheses I would get two weird looking characters. When I go to look at the symbol table, a lot of the symbols are missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

strange table behaviour

Submitted by alex807 on February 5, 2006 - 2:11am

Hi all! I have no idea if this a portable openoffice or a general openoffice problem - but I'm experiencing some nasty lil problems when working with tables, especially in documents previously written in MS Office. I had do some work on -until now - 2 .doc files that had tables in them. Worked, saved - and WHAM - when opening the documents, my clients complained about tables intertwining. When I opened thjem again myselves, some thing had gone very, very wrong. It seems that openoffice saves everything in a strange way, and nothing is the wy it was when I saved the documents first. Anyone here with similar problems?
