Hidden in windows explorer are those little desktop.ini files. You edit them to make the folders look nice, and they don't work if you edit them at all. Does anyone have any idea how to make it so and so that it uses relative paths?

USB Disk Ejector - Does What it's Called

Submitted by Patrick Patience on December 28, 2007 - 4:45pm

I just found this program on Lifehacker. It's called USB Disk Ejector, it's just like the Windows eject function, but you can keep it open, it just takes pushing enter to eject your drive.

And fantasticly, you can run this from the drive you're ejecting and it'll still work.

It's only freeware, but it's handy, here's the link.

How do I check version numbers of apps to find out what I need to update?

Submitted by d.bear on December 27, 2007 - 5:42pm

I don't mind having to manually download and install or update applications. But, being a user, I don't visit PortableApps.com daily (or even weekly). When I do stop by the home page, the "What's New" list is updated with the latest version numbers shown. Only problem is I don't know what versions I currently have.
