Search utility that supports OOo formats (odt, odg, etc.)

Submitted by foxcole on August 16, 2007 - 11:13am

Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but I've spent half an hour trying different search strings and can't find anything relevant....

What I'm looking for is a file search utility that will search inside OpenOffice files. I thought FileSeeker would do it, but it doesn't (sure wish it did, though! I like that program)... and of course, the utility needs to run portably. I thought I'd ask this forum because it doesn't appear that there are any search utilities in the Applications list.

I'd be deeply grateful for any suggestions!

Reach-a-Mail is a USB based portable email client. Very small and light weight and keeps your e-mail correspondence private leaving nothing in a computer. You will also be impressed by the easiness and simplicity of user’s interface.

This is FreeWare but I have permission from the author of Reach-a-Mail to repackage and redistribute.

Xenon Portable Pre-Release 6 [File Manager] (Please Test)

John Bentley's picture
Submitted by John Bentley on August 11, 2007 - 5:34pm

Xenon is a file manager with locally stored file extensions. This is a complete rewrite of Xenon in AutoIt (the second rewrite actually). It should work on most computers now. The assoc.ini file has the icons and file associations. There are no default portable applications set to open files but there are lines commented out that enable most files to be launched.

Edit: Pre-Release 3 adds many features including copy+paste, a context menu, and plugin system.
Edit: Pre-Release 4 includes a zip extraction program based on 7-Zip for n00bs called 6-Zip and plugin examples and installers.

I Made A .cmd File And Included Like 6 Lines Of Code Into That File.

Use This Extractor:
[removed by moderator JTH. Packaging Mozilla apps is only allowed with permission.]

Once U Extract It... Find firefox.cmd And Click It.

Should Say "Starting Firefox Portable" Or Something Like That In That Black Box.

Well Once Firefox Show's Up... I Want To Know... Is This Completly Portable With The Extentions, Themes And Etc?
And Does It Leave Any Files Behind?

Tips: Your Drive Or The Folders Containing This "firefox" folder cannot have any spaces

X:\

AppRun (I know - its not a nice name, I think I'll change it soon)

Submitted by yacool on August 10, 2007 - 10:00am

Hi there.
I'm portable-addicted Wink and I use others apps on my USB-stick - skype, PSI, Total Commander, Private Data and many more. Sometimes i had problems with run them from it - it was many .exe files in directory, application must have som params or environment variables set berore it is run.
So I developed a small application that runs other application (that supposed to be a portable one) from (for example) App directory.
I can configure all application parameters and define Environment vars before run.
I found it very helpfull, so - If You thing it's interesting - try it.
