Automatic incremental backups to flash drive

Submitted by Steve_Storm on January 10, 2009 - 8:12pm

I will be overly detailed, as I would like to get an overly detailed response. I have a laptop running WinXP sp2. I would like to be able to plug in an usb key (8GB Sandisc micro) to the laptop and have it automatically copy folder x from the laptop to the usb key. There would be nothing on the key but whatever program does the copying and folder x. I can say that this will be the only computer this key ever is plugged into and it always shows up as the same ‘E’ drive letter.

Request: Option to be notified of updates

Submitted by gmbutler on January 9, 2009 - 9:52am

Hi John / webmaster

I would very much like to see a option on every app's page where users can subscribe to monitor the specific app for updates.

It would be very useful for many reasons, especially if some of the apps are used on a daily basis (Firefox, for one). When the app has been updated to a new version, a email would be sent to all who is subscribed to that app's mailing list.

Solid state drives in Netbooks & RAM

Submitted by getco on January 7, 2009 - 7:01am

Hey guys... I was wondering those "solid state drives" that they put in the Netbooks (notebooks, but much smaller where there is not always enough space for an HDD) so these drives and the RAM - they are still semiconductors based. So why is that the flash memory has a life cycle and these don't? Or am I wrong? Do they have a life cycle as well?

Is there a portable encryptable address book solution?

Submitted by getco on January 6, 2009 - 2:26pm

Do you by any chance happen to know any portable address book solutions that can also be encrypted? I just want a way to keep all my contacts with their data (phone, email, address, birth date, where I met them, etc.) in one place and be able to carry it around with me to stay organized. Or maybe what I'm looking for is something else? I've never used such a solution before so enlighten me.

So we have a desktop for family use. I was using it today and i found out that the internet was very slow. I tried to look in the processes and i saw uTorrent.exe, FDM.exe. I think it is uTorrent thats slowing it down. Problem is there is no utorrent icon in the system tray (which should have). It has got to do with cmd. I saw him open cmd. Also there was also TrayIt.exe. Any of you knows how he hid utorrent?

How to put large files onto a portable hard drive?

Hi guys

I have a 4.4 gb file I want to move onto my portable hard drive but it says there isn't enough room. There's a 100+ gb space free on the hard drive so I'm guessing it has something to do with the formatting or that. I don't really know anything about this sort of thing so was hoping one of the gurus here could help.

Thanks:-)
