Submitted by sadsack on May 7, 2010 - 4:29am

Hi all,
I did make at posting at the ftm16 beta posting but maybe due to the age of the last posting there, I thought it might be a good idea to see if anyone could answer my question here.

Does anyone know if the ftm executable that is supposed to be available "is available" elsewhere.

would be very much appreciated if someone could throw some light on the subject...

Upgrading to SP3

Ok. I got me an new laptop which is actually 10 years old but it has XP (SP2) and I wanna upgrade to SP3. I noticed it says to back up files before you install. But I have nowhere to back them up to. My friend says that if you don't back the files up, and your battery dies or your computer turns of in the middle of upgrading, you computer crashes and you might not be able to use your computer any more.

But will I still lose files if I don't back them up and complete the installation without my computer turning off?

Portable SVN Client

Submitted by Saij on May 5, 2010 - 11:09am

Hi,

I'm searching a good portable SVN client. I already tried SubCommander, SmartSVN (which I must buy to use the features I need -.-) and RapidSVN. But none of them is usable for me.

I'm currently using SlikSVN but it stores its settings and data in the AppData directory and in the registry. Maybe someone could get it portable?

Or does someone has a good tip for a portable SVN client?

Portable Access like database environment

Submitted by KMEscherich on May 2, 2010 - 11:25am

Hi everyone, as I am new to this, I am wondering if there is a portable app I can download that will mirror Microsoft Access. In other words, I would like to be able to develop a database with 2 or 3 tables and develop a front-end which would allow for the end-user to enter information via a form and run pre-designed reports that I would develop. I would like this to be done on a Flash Drive/Memory Stick.

Hopefully someone out there may know exactly where I need to go in order to get this software.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Suites vs. "a la carte" (Platform + your choices)

John T. HallerI don't think we want to go the shovelware route for suites. Some of the illegal portable software sites have 200+ apps in them. But you're only going to use maybe 10 or 20 of them anyway. Random utilities you have no use for, 10 apps that do the exact same thing, etc. They're basically shovelware suites and they do that to force you to download all the apps so they can count that one download as 200 downloads.

This is a heads up for the PortableApps.com community.

We desire also to officially apologize to the PortableApps community, given that we used some of their powerful portable software without giving proper credit for their efforts. We are working to fix all issues, rehabilitating disabled splash screens and other minor inaccuracies, hoping to resolve these problems within the next Suite release. - http://www.lupopensuite.com/ (4-30-10)

Lupo has re-enabled the splash screens and placed the bookmarks back into Firefox Portable. Smile

His suite is also going GPL and Open Source.
